RTF-40 Series Return Filters: Efficiency and Anti-Aeration Protection

The Stauff RTF-40 series represents a reliable solution for return line filtration, specifically engineered for flange mounting on the top of the tank. These filters are designed to handle high flow rates of up to 378 l/min (100 US GPM) while maintaining a maximum operating pressure of 6.9 bar (100 PSI). Their key feature is the ability to discharge oil below the fluid level in the tank, effectively preventing aeration and foam formation.

Design Features and Materials

RTF-40 filters are manufactured using selected materials to ensure durability and compatibility:

• Filter head: Made of aluminum.
• Filter bowl: Available in two versions depending on length; Length 1 is made of polyamide, while Length 2 is made of steel.
• Seals: Standard NBR (Buna-N®), with other materials available on request.
• Operating temperature: From −25 °C to +95 °C (−13°F to +203°F).

Filter Elements and Configuration

The system uses different series of filter elements depending on bypass management:

• RTE-47 Series: With bypass valve integrated into the filter element (single length).
• RTE-48 Series: With bypass valve integrated into the filter head (equivalent to HF-4 elements, single and double lengths).
• RTE-49 Series: With bypass valve integrated into the filter head (single and double lengths).

Filter media cover different requirements, including inorganic glass fiber (Series D) and wire mesh (Series G).

Options and Accessories

The versatility of the RTF-40 series is ensured by numerous configurable options:

• Bypass valve: Available with opening pressures of 1 bar (14.5 PSI) or 1.7 bar (25 PSI).
• Connections: Wide selection including BSP, NPT, SAE O-ring threads, and SAE flanges.
• Accessories: A weld ring (Weld Ring WR-40) is available for direct tank mounting without drilling, along with provisions for clogging indicators.
