FRA UFI Series Return Line Filters: Efficiency and Versatility for Return Lines

The FRA series by UFI Filters represents an advanced solution for return line filtration in hydraulic systems. These filters are specifically designed for installation on the top of the tank (“tank top return line filter”), preventing contaminants from entering the reservoir and protecting system components from wear.

Design Features and Materials

The construction of FRA filters combines lightweight and durable materials to ensure long service life and reliability:

• Head and Cover: Made of aluminum alloy.
• Housing (Bowl): The material varies depending on size to optimize performance. It is made of polyamide for models FRA 21, 31, 32, 33, and 41, and zinc-plated steel for models FRA 11, 42, 51, 52, 53, and 5D.
• Bypass Valve: Integrated into the system, made of polyamide, set at 170 kPa (1.7 bar) ±10% to ensure fluid flow in case of clogging or low temperatures.
• Seals: Standard NBR nitrile, with optional FKM fluoroelastomer upon request.

Filter Elements and Media

The FRA series supports a wide range of FormulaUFI filter media to meet different cleanliness requirements:

• FormulaUFI.MICRON (FA, FB, FC, FD): Glass microfiber with filtration from 5 to 21 µm (ß > 1,000).
• FormulaUFI.CELL (CC, CD): Impregnated cellulose at 10 µm and 25 µm (ß > 2).
• FormulaUFI.WEB (ME): Metal mesh at 60 µm.

The filter element is designed to withstand a collapse differential pressure of 300 kPa (3 bar).

• Ports: Available with BSP, NPT, SAE threads, and SAE 3000 psi flanges.
• Clogging Indicators: Provision for rear or bottom-mounted pressure gauges and pressure switches.
