Description
SF Series High-Pressure In-Line Filters: Performance and Robustness
The Stauff SF series represents a premium solution for pressure filtration in hydraulic circuits.
These filters are designed for in-line assembly, providing superior protection of system components while operating at maximum working pressures of up to 420 bar (6,000 PSI).
When combined with Stauff SE series filter elements, they ensure high contaminant removal efficiency and long service life, significantly reducing maintenance costs.
Design Features and Materials
The construction of SF filters is engineered to withstand the most demanding operating conditions:
- Filter head: Made of spheroidal graphite cast iron, ensuring dimensional stability and high mechanical strength.
- Filter bowl: Manufactured from cold drawn steel.
- Seals: Standard NBR (Buna-N®), with FKM (Viton®) or EPDM options available for specific fluids.
Filter Elements and Media
SF filters use SE series elements, available with different filter media technologies and collapse pressure ratings (according to ISO 2941):
- Inorganic glass fiber: For fine filtration (3, 5, 10, 20 µm), available with collapse pressure ratings of 25 bar or 210 bar.
- Stainless steel fiber: For special applications, with a collapse pressure of 210 bar.
- Stainless steel wire mesh: For coarse filtration (25, 50, 100, 200 µm), with a collapse pressure of 30 bar.
The bypass valve, when required, is integrated into the filter head, allowing fluid to bypass the element in case of clogging to protect the system (standard setting $6^{+0.5}$ bar).
Technical Specifications and Connections
The range covers a wide variety of application requirements:
- Flow rate: Up to 1,135 l/min (300 US GPM).
- Operating temperature: From −10°C to +100°C.
- Connections: BSP and NPT threads, SAE flanges (Code 61 and Code 62), and SAE O-ring threads.
Accessories and Monitoring
For continuous performance monitoring, Stauff SF pressure filters can be equipped with HI series clogging indicators.
Available options include visual, electrical, or combined visual-electrical indicators, providing timely notification when filter element replacement is required.
