The FOX HSTX Series Diaphragm Pulsation Dampener is a hydraulic component of fundamental importance for fluid contamination control and for the proper management of pressure fluctuations within advanced hydraulic systems. For the correct use of the device as a pulsation dampener, the nitrogen precharge pressure must be accurately calibrated within a specific range between 60% and 80% of the system working pressure. This calibration must always be calculated by taking into account the type of installed pump and the expected operating temperature values. The compression ratio recommended by engineering parameters is 2.5, while the maximum permitted limit must not exceed 4. It is also essential to emphasize that the mechanical life of the component is inversely proportional to the increase in the compression ratio applied to the circuit.
Construction and Materials
The main body of the device is entirely manufactured from AISI 316 L stainless steel, a metallurgical choice that provides exceptional mechanical strength and high corrosion resistance, making it suitable even for the most aggressive industrial environments. The internal diaphragms, which play a vital role in the correct operation of the dampener, are available in several high-performance compounds, specifically NBR, HNBR, EPDM, FPM, and HYTREL. This variety guarantees perfect chemical compatibility with multiple fluids and ensures excellent sealing performance across different operating temperatures. The standard nitrogen valve is of the UNF type, and the device offers remarkable installation flexibility, as it can be mounted either horizontally or vertically, provided that the nitrogen valve is always oriented upward. The maximum working pressure supported ranges from 150 to 210 bar depending on the selected model, with a test pressure calculated by multiplying the working pressure by factors of 1.43, 1.3, or 1.5.
Configurations and Certifications Available on Request
The manufacturer offers numerous customizations on request to adapt the component to the most specific and demanding design requirements. The external body can be painted according to the standard FOX procedure or in compliance with strict customer project specifications. Various connection types are also available to interface with any hydraulic system, including SAE 3000 and SAE 6000 flanges, ANSI B16.5 fittings, UNI/DIN standards, Autoclave connections, Grayloc systems, integrated flange options, and fully customized special connections manufactured upon customer request. For the most severe applications requiring extraordinary performance, a special high-pressure version is available, capable of operating safely up to 1379 bar, equivalent to 20,000 PSI. It is also possible to request the product in special exotic materials or choose the completely maintenance-free version identified by the technical designation HSTX-SMF. To complete the offering and ensure maximum operational safety, the products can also be supplied on request in compliance with a wide range of international industry certifications, including CE PED, ATEX, ASME, KOSHA, SELO, and many other globally recognized standards.
