The FOX RID Series Pressure Reducer is an essential hydraulic component developed to precisely regulate the precharge pressure between the nitrogen cylinder and the accumulator. To safeguard user safety when using compressed gas cylinders, installation of this reducer is strictly necessary. The device completely eliminates the possibility of precharging an accumulator with a working pressure lower than the pressure delivered by the nitrogen cylinder.

Operating Principle and Use

The unit makes it possible to reduce the pressure available inside the cylinder and bring it to the exact operating value required by the system. Reduced pressure adjustment is performed manually and can be set within a range from 0 to 200 bar. Constant monitoring of values is facilitated by the product’s standard configuration, which includes two integrated pressure gauges. These instruments allow simultaneous reading of the gas cylinder pressure and the reduced pressure, with an indication range from 0 to 300 bar. The inlet connection couples directly to the cylinder connection specific to the country of installation, while the precharge hose connects to the reducer outlet via M16x1.5 fittings.

Construction Features and Materials

Designed to ensure long service life in industrial environments, the reducer features a highly resistant construction suitable for handling nitrogen cylinders up to 200 bar. The main body is made of brass, protected by a chrome-plated surface coating. The reaction diaphragm is made of stainless steel, while the internal seals use NBR and Derlin to maximize compatibility and tight sealing. The unit supports a maximum operating pressure of 220 bar and can operate effectively at temperatures from -20°C to +80°C, with an overall weight of 1.75 kg.

Fluid Specifications

The reducer is optimized exclusively for use with nitrogen gas. To preserve system integrity, the contamination level of the introduced nitrogen must fall within class 20/18/15 according to ISO 4406/99.

Maintenance and Safety Requirements

For trouble-free operation, it is mandatory to prevent the reducer from being subjected to impacts or accidental drops. Seals and pressure gauges must always be kept in perfect condition, and the calibration of the overpressure valve must not be altered in any way. In the event of malfunctions, such as an increase in outlet pressure without actual consumption or leakage from the safety valve, the flow must be stopped immediately by closing the cylinder valve. Any repair or maintenance work must be carried out exclusively by qualified personnel or at FOX workshops, using original spare parts as required for warranty purposes.
