The STAUFF Cover Plate (Type DP – Standard Series) is a primary structural component developed for the anchoring and mechanical fastening of rigid and flexible tubing in hydraulic systems. The component is designed in strict compliance with the dimensional specifications and performance requirements established by DIN 3015, Part 1. Its main function is to distribute the bolt clamping load evenly across the clamp halves below, preventing localised deformation and ensuring stable fastening under the high vibration levels, pressure peaks and continuous mechanical stresses typical of industrial hydraulic circuits.

Construction Features and Materials

Type DP cover plates are manufactured to withstand a wide range of operating environments, including corrosive conditions and significant temperature fluctuations. The construction options, identified by specific material codes, include:

• W3: Carbon steel with a zinc/nickel-plated surface treatment, providing solid protection against oxidation in standard industrial applications.
• W4: V2A stainless steel (specifications 1.4301/1.4305 or AISI 304/303), suitable for the chemical industry or environments with moderate humidity.
• W5: V4A stainless steel (specifications 1.4401/1.4571 or AISI 316/316 Ti), offering extremely high corrosion resistance and specifically designed for marine, offshore and aggressive chemical environments.
• W85: EN AW-6060 aluminium, selected for applications requiring strict weight reduction without compromising structural integrity.

Dimensions and STAUFF Groups

The plate is calibrated for use with clamps belonging to STAUFF Groups 1 to 8 (corresponding to DIN Groups 0 to 8). The overall dimensions vary proportionally according to the selected group, ensuring correct tube support:

• Width (B): Constant at 30 mm for all groups (1 to 8).
• Thickness (S): 3 mm for Groups 1 to 6; increased to 5 mm for Groups 7 and 8 to withstand greater hydraulic loads.
• Hole Centre Distance (L2): Varies progressively from 9.5 mm (Group 1) to 120 mm (Group 8).
• Total Length (L1): Ranges from 28 mm (Group 1) to 144 mm (Group 8).

Compatible Accessories: Hexagon Head Bolts (Type AS)

Correct installation of the cover plate requires the use of Type AS hexagon head bolts. These bolts are engineered in accordance with DIN 931/933 or, alternatively, ANSI/ASME B18.2.1. To ensure compatibility with various international design standards, the fastening systems are available with two optional thread profiles:

• ISO Metric Thread: From M6x30 to M6x125, depending on the size group.
• UNC Thread (Unified Coarse): 1/4-20 UNC threads, with lengths ranging from 1-1/4 inches to 4-7/8 inches.

Type AS bolts are also available with the material selection codes W3 (zinc/nickel-plated carbon steel), W4 (V2A stainless steel) and W5 (V4A stainless steel).
