STAUFF Weld Plate Heavy Series Type SPAD

The STAUFF Weld Plate Heavy Series Type SPAD provides an ideal technical solution for secure fastening in hydraulic systems. Designed for the 4S-D and 5S-D size groups of the Heavy Twin Series, it ensures robust installation in circuits subject to vibration. It is available with ISO Metric Thread (M10) or UNC Thread (3/8-16), offering multiple material options ranging from carbon steel to AISI 304 and 316 stainless steel. The product codes for the standard configurations are: SPAD-4S-M-W1, SPAD-4S-U-W2, SPAD-5S-M-W1, SPAD-5S-U-W2.

STAUFF Weld Plate Heavy Series Type SPAD

Description

Structure and Size Groups

The STAUFF Heavy Series Weld Plate Type SPAD (Heavy Twin Series Weld Plate) is a structural component specifically designed for the secure fastening of rigid and flexible pipes in hydraulic systems. The plate is developed to withstand the mechanical loads typical of the Heavy Twin Series and is structured around two main STAUFF size groups: Group 4S-D (abbreviated as 4S) and Group 5S-D (abbreviated as 5S). Both sizes maintain a constant plate width (B) of 30 mm, thickness (S) of 8 mm and threaded boss height (H) of 8.5 mm, ensuring uniform clamp positioning. The difference between the two series lies in the centre distance (L2) and overall length (L1): Group 4S has a centre distance of 90 mm over a length of 130 mm, while Group 5S increases the centre distance to 120 mm over a length of 160 mm.

Assembly Threads

The upper clamp components are anchored by means of cylindrical bosses with an outside diameter (ØD) of 18 mm. To ensure full compatibility with different international design standards, Type SPAD plates are available with two threaded connection types (Thread G). Selecting code “M” specifies an ISO Metric Thread corresponding to M10. Selecting code “U” specifies a Unified Coarse Thread (UNC) equivalent to 3/8-16 UNC.

Material Codes and Surface Treatments

Corrosion resistance and weldability depend on the construction material, identified by five main variants:

  • W1: Carbon steel, uncoated (ideal for direct welding without contamination).
  • W2: Carbon steel, phosphated (the standard finish option for the North American market).
  • W3: Zinc/Nickel-Plated Carbon Steel (for high environmental resistance).
  • W4: V2A Stainless Steel, compliant with grades 1.4301 and 1.4305 (AISI 304 / 303).
  • W5: V4A Stainless Steel, compliant with grades 1.4401 and 1.4571 (AISI 316 / 316 Ti), intended for the most demanding operating environments.

Upon request from the designer, STAUFF offers additional materials and surface finishes to meet specific requirements relating to Fluid Contamination Control and hydraulic components.

Order Code Structure

To identify the exact product, the order code combines the plate type, group, thread and material. For example, code SPAD-4S-M-W1 identifies a weld plate for Group 4S, with metric thread, manufactured from uncoated carbon steel.
