Operating Principle and Applications

The fastening system is specifically designed for suspended or supported installation of pipes on beams, profiles and brackets. The design features two threaded ends. This technical configuration allows optimal adjustment to the exact outside diameter of the pipe, ensuring stability of the fluid system for nominal diameters up to DN50 and above DN50.

Fastening Assembly Components

Each Clamp Assembly is supplied unassembled and consists of specific mechanical components. The complete set includes a round steel U-bolt (identified as Type RB), a long plastic pipe saddle (identified as Type RUL) and four fastening nuts. The supplied nuts are manufactured in accordance with the DIN EN ISO 4032 technical standard.

Material Specifications: Steel U-Bolt

The Round Steel U-Bolt is available in three different material codes to meet various requirements for mechanical strength and corrosion resistance:

• Code W1 identifies uncoated carbon steel.
• Code W32 identifies zinc-plated and blue-chromated carbon steel.
• Code W5 identifies V4A stainless steel, grades 1.4401 / 1.4571 (AISI 316 / 316 Ti).

Material Specifications: Plastic Saddle

The Plastic Pipe Saddle acts as the structural interface between the metal U-bolt and the hydraulic pipe. The standard polymer materials available for this component include:

• Polypropylene (Material Code: PP), supplied in green.
• Polyamide (Material Code: PA), supplied in black.

Alternative materials and different surface finishes are available upon specific request.

Dimensions and Threads

The STAUFF Round U-Bolt Clamp RB/RUL (with Long Plastic Saddle) covers a wide range of nominal diameters, from DN20 up to DN500. The supported pipe outside diameter (O.D.) ranges from a minimum of 25 mm to a maximum of 521 mm. The metric threads at the ends of the U-bolt, indicated in the technical data as “Thread G”, increase proportionally with the clamp size and include M10, M12, M16, M20 and M24 specifications.

Ordering Code Structure

The ordering code structure allows the required configuration to be uniquely identified. A complete order code for the fastening assembly follows the format “RB+RUL-48.3-PP-W1”. In this specific nomenclature, “RB+RUL” identifies the complete assembly, “48.3” represents the exact outside diameter in millimetres, “PP” identifies the saddle material (Polypropylene) and “W1” specifies the material of the steel U-bolt. Components can also be ordered separately: the individual U-bolt follows the format “RB-A-52-W1-COMPL” (including nuts), while the individual saddle is coded as “RUL-48.3-PP”.
