Description

Operating Principle and Benefits

The STAUFF Saddle Clamp ZR-518 is designed to allow the direct fastening and secure guidance of rigid pipes, flexible hoses and pipework on hydraulic cylinders or other round and oval structures. The main advantage of this system lies in its non-invasive design: installation does not cause any damage to the strength or structural integrity of the cylinder, unlike traditional screw-fastening or welding methods. Furthermore, no preliminary preparation or reworking of the surface coating of the supporting structure is required.

This simple yet highly effective system allows a pipe with a small outside diameter (from 10 to 22 mm) to be installed above a structure with a significantly larger diameter (from 50 to 200 mm). The versatility of the system is further enhanced by the ability to adjust its position at any time, thanks to the free axial and radial positioning of the clamps on the structure. This makes the solution ideal for retrofit operations on existing hydraulic systems while ensuring continuous flexibility in the field.

Construction Features and Materials

The standard product version, identified by the order code ZR-518-SA73-BK, is manufactured entirely from Thermoplastic Elastomer with a specific hardness of 73 Shore-A. This advanced material ensures excellent grip, flexibility and suitable resistance to the stresses typical of demanding hydraulic environments. The component is supplied in black.

Final assembly and fastening to the supporting structure are carried out using fastening straps or metal worm-drive hose clamps (for example, compliant with DIN 3017 standards). It is important to note that these fastening elements are not included in the standard supply. The required dimensions of the steel band or clamp depend on the actual outside diameters involved, which are essential for calculating the total strap length. The standard width provided on the clamp for accommodating the fastening straps is 13 mm (0.51 inches).

Diameter Specifications and Applications

The component design is specifically optimised to fit around large supporting structures while securing smaller-diameter pipework. More specifically, the diameter of the cylinder or base structure (identified as Ø D2) covers an overall range from 50 mm (1.96 inches) up to 200 mm (7.87 inches). The specific dimensional ranges are divided into precise intervals to ensure optimum fit: 50-70, 60-80, 70-90, 80-105, 90-120, 105-140, 125-160, 145-180 and finally 165-200 millimetres. As regards the pipe or flexible hose to be secured (identified as Ø D1), the clamp universally supports diameters strictly between 10 mm and 22 mm (0.39 to 0.87 inches), regardless of the diameter of the supporting structure.

Customisation and Variants

Although the ZR-518-SA73-BK model is the standard configuration, STAUFF offers extensive possibilities for meeting different technical requirements through numerous other variants that have already been developed and can be reproduced. Where specific system requirements apply, fully customised clamps can be developed for particular applications or manufactured to customer specifications based on drawings and models supplied directly by the customer.
