STAUFF Smooth Clamp Body (Type H – Standard Series)

Description

Reference Standards and Operating Principle

The STAUFF Smooth Clamp Body (Type H – Standard Series) is an essential fastening component for hydraulic and industrial applications, developed in full compliance with the specifications of DIN 3015, Part 1. Technically identified as a Type H clamp body, it is distinguished by its completely smooth inner surface design. This particular construction geometry ensures fastening without tension clearance, providing maximum mechanical stability to the line. Each individual clamp body is formed by coupling two identical clamp halves. It is a widely tested, approved and recommended product for the secure and efficient installation of pipes and cables across multiple industrial sectors.

Construction Features and Technical Design

The Standard Series of STAUFF Type H clamps incorporates specific design features to preserve the integrity of fluid power systems.

  • The inner edges of the clamp halves are carefully chamfered; this mechanical feature prevents cuts, wear or damage to the fastened pipes and cables.
  • The external dimensions of the product follow strict standardisation, divided into STAUFF Groups from 1 to 8, corresponding to DIN classes 0 to 8.
  • The system covers all of the most commonly used outside diameters (O.D.) for cables and pipes, starting from a minimum size of 6 mm (Group 1/0) up to 102 mm (Group 8/8). Additional special outside diameters are also available upon specific customer request.

Material Specifications and Resistance

The reliability of the clamp body is ensured by the use of high-quality engineering polymers, selectable according to the environmental conditions and fluids present within the system. The standard compounds provide excellent weathering resistance, ensuring a long service life even when installations are exposed to severe climatic conditions.
The range of coded materials includes:

  • Polypropylene (Code PP-H): Supplied in green, representing the standard solution for general industrial applications.
  • Black Polypropylene (Code PP-H-BK): Featuring the same chemical and physical properties as green polypropylene, but manufactured in black.
  • Polyamide (Code PA-H): Engineering material supplied in black, selected for applications with specific thermal and mechanical requirements.
  • Thermoplastic Elastomer (Code SA-H): Compound with a hardness of 87 Shore-A in black, ideal where enhanced flexibility and vibration damping are required.

Where system regulations require higher safety standards, special flame-retardant materials for the clamp bodies can be supplied upon request. These compounds are rigorously tested and approved in accordance with the most stringent international fire protection standards, including BS 6853, EN 45545-2 and UL 94.

Code System

The ordering format allows the required diameter and material to be identified precisely using the STAUFF alphanumeric nomenclature (e.g. 106-**-H, where the asterisks indicate the code of the selected material). The dimensional range covers operating requirements in both metric and imperial inch sizes (e.g. 1-1/4″, 2-1/2″, 4″).
