Description
Construction Features and Materials of Oleo Tecnica NPT Threaded Flanges
Oleo Tecnica NPT Threaded Flanges represent a high-level solution for connections in hydraulic systems (Hydraulic Components & Fluid Contamination Control). Their construction architecture ensures maximum sealing performance and resistance to mechanical stress in high-pressure hydraulic circuits. Application flexibility is ensured by availability in two main material variants: high-yield-strength S355 carbon steel and austenitic AISI 316L stainless steel. This dual choice allows designers and technicians to select the most suitable component for both standard applications and highly corrosive environments or applications requiring stringent hygiene standards.
Series Classification and Pressure Performance
The range is structured into two main product lines, classified according to pressure specifications and component dimensions:
- Series 3000: Designed to cover nominal sizes from 1/2″ up to 5″. Maximum recommended working pressures for this series vary according to flange size. They start at a maximum of 345 Kg/cm² for the most compact models (from 1/2″ to 1″), progressively decreasing to 276 Kg/cm² for the 1″1/4 model, 207 Kg/cm² (1″1/2 and 2″), 172 Kg/cm² (2″1/2), 138 Kg/cm² (3″), and finally 34 Kg/cm² for the larger diameters from 3″1/2 to 5″.
- Series 6000: Designed for heavy-duty applications requiring higher and consistent performance across the entire range. It covers sizes from 1/2″ to 3″. Unlike Series 3000, the entire Series 6000 is engineered to withstand a uniform maximum recommended working pressure of 414 Kg/cm², regardless of nominal size (from AFS401 to AFS508N).
Assembly Specifications and Fastening Hardware
Installation of Oleo Tecnica NPT Threaded Flanges requires tight dimensional tolerances. Fastening is carried out using specific screw sets supplied according to the ordering designation. Users can order the flange only (suffix “…N”) or request the complete assembly kit, which includes the specific O-ring (e.g. 4075, 4100 up to 4537) to ensure leak-tight frontal sealing, together with spring washers. The supplied screws can be metric (suffix “…NM”) or UNC threaded (suffix “…NU”). It is important to note that UNC screw sets are available exclusively in carbon steel. In addition, for Series 6000 models in sizes 2″1/2 (AFS507N) and 3″ (AFS508N), screw sets are available only in metric configuration and only in carbon steel.
Ordering Designation
Product identification for purchasing follows a clear logical coding system. The code prefix defines the material: “AFS” identifies components manufactured in S355 steel, while “AFX” identifies the AISI 316L version. The suffix defines the supply configuration: flange only (N), flange complete with metric screws, spring washers and O-ring (NM), or flange complete with UNC screws, spring washers and O-ring (NU).
