Seim PDA Pump

The Seim PDA Pump is a three-screw pump designed for applications requiring reliability, low noise, and medium-to-small flow rates. Featuring very low pulsations, high self-priming capacity, and reduced maintenance, it is the ideal solution for recirculation, filtration, and auxiliary lubrication systems. The use of mechanical seals ensures optimal performance even under critical conditions such as cold starts, dense oils, or high operating speeds. Also available with integrated safety valve.

Description

Overview of the Seim PDA Three-Screw Pump

The PDA pump series was developed from SEIM’s experience to meet market demand for reliable and quiet pumps, suitable for medium-to-small flow rates but with the performance characteristics that only three-screw pumps can provide. Its remarkable low noise level, compared to gear or vane pumps of the same displacement, has allowed it to establish itself in specific market segments. Reliability is proven by the installation of thousands of units each year by leading global manufacturers and by its standard use in SEIM’s own air-oil heat exchangers, where it operates continuously without the need for specific maintenance.

Operating Principle and Technical Advantages

The Seim PDA Pump incorporates all the benefits of a three-screw pump, even for small displacements. Its proven performance is reflected in the following key advantages:

  • Extremely Low Noise: Noise levels are significantly lower than with other pump technologies.
  • Very Low Pulsations: The pumped fluid flow is constant, with almost no pulsations, benefiting the entire system.
  • High Suction Capacity: The pump is self-priming and ensures excellent suction performance.
  • Performance with Air in Emulsion: Maintains optimal operation even with air emulsified in the fluid.
  • No Release of Contaminants: Operation does not introduce contaminants into the pumped fluid.
  • Low Maintenance: Design and selected components minimize maintenance requirements.

Construction Features and Materials

SEIM follows a construction policy oriented toward maximum reliability, using components from leading global brands and subjecting 100% of production to final testing.

Structure and Components

The Seim PDA Pump has a robust structure with pump body, motor connection flange, and end cap made of aluminum alloy. Inside, the central drive screw is made of steel, while the idler screws are made of cast iron, ensuring precision and long-term durability.

Mechanical Seal for Maximum Reliability

Even in smaller models, SEIM always adopts a coupling, lantern, and mechanical seal. This solution is universally recognized as the most reliable, not only under standard operating conditions, but also in critical situations such as cold starts, use with high-viscosity oils, or high rotational speeds.

Built-In Safety Valve

The most requested version of the Seim PDA Pump is equipped with an integrated safety valve. This component is designed to ensure full flow discharge even at maximum operating speeds, protecting the system. The standard valve setting is 6 bar, with an allowable discharge pressure up to 10 bar.

Typical Applications and Sectors

The versatility of the Seim PDA Pump makes it suitable for numerous uses in the industrial and hydraulic sectors.

  • Recirculation and filtration systems: Ideal for fixed or mobile installations (kidney loop) and off-line cooling systems.
  • Auxiliary lubrication systems: Perfect for low-pressure circuits serving:
    • Gear reducers.
    • Compressors.
    • Various machine tools.
  • Special applications: Specific versions are available for fluids with particular characteristics, such as those used in the aerospace sector.
