ESA – ESB UFI suction filters are strainers designed for direct immersed installation in hydraulic tanks. Featuring a polyamide connector (or aluminum for larger sizes) and a polyamide end cap (or galvanized steel), they provide essential pump protection. The ESB series includes an integrated magnetic core for the retention of ferrous particles. They ensure flow rates up to 600 l/min and operate effectively between -25°C and +110°C.

ESA and ESB Series Immersed Suction Filters UFI: Complete Protection for Hydraulic Pumps

The ESA and ESB series by UFI Filters provide reliable solutions for filtration on the suction line, preventing the ingress of coarse contaminants into the hydraulic circuit and protecting the pump from premature damage. Designed to be installed directly inside the tank, below the oil level, these filters combine robust materials with advanced configuration options.

Differences Between ESA and ESB Series

Although they share the same basic structure and identical hydraulic performance, the two series differ in one key feature:

  • ESA Series: Standard suction filter.
  • ESB Series: Equipped with an integrated magnetic core made of sintered material, which retains ferrous metal particles suspended in the oil, providing an additional level of protection for system components.

Construction Features and Materials

The filters are manufactured using selected materials to ensure compatibility and durability:

  • Connector and End Cap: Made of polyamide for standard sizes (up to series 43), while for larger sizes (51 and 52) the connector is aluminum and the end cap is galvanized steel, ensuring structural strength even at high flow rates.
  • Bypass Valve: Integrated into the design (optional), made of polyamide.

Formula UFI Filter Elements

Filtration is performed by metal meshes from the FormulaUFI.WEB family, optimized for surface filtration on suction lines. Three filtration grades are available:

  • ME: Metal mesh 60 µm.
  • MF: Metal mesh 90 µm.
  • MG: Metal mesh 250 µm. The element structure is designed to withstand a collapse differential pressure of 100 kPa (1 bar).

Performance and Operating Specifications

ESA – ESB UFI suction filters cover a wide range of application requirements:

  • Maximum Flow Rate (Qmax): Up to 600 l/min.
  • Operating Temperature: From -25°C to +110°C.
  • Bypass Valve: Available with a setting of 30 kPa (0.3 bar) ±10% to prevent cavitation in case of clogging or low temperatures (standard option “A”, or without bypass “W” for ESA; not available for ESB).

Compatibility and Connections

These filters are fully compatible with hydraulic fluids HH, HL, HM, HR, HV, and HTG according to ISO 6743/4. Connection options include BSP and NPT threads, with sizes ranging from 3/8″ up to 4″, ensuring maximum installation flexibility.
