FOF UFI Off-Line Filters: Superior Efficiency for Fluid Cleanliness

The UFI Filters FOF series represents the top level of performance in off-line filtration (recirculation or transfer circuits). These filters are designed to operate independently from the main hydraulic circuit, providing continuous and thorough purification of the hydraulic fluid—an essential function for extending component life and reducing maintenance costs.

Operating Principle and Construction

FOF filters operate with an “inside-to-outside” flow direction, optimizing dirt-holding capacity. Their structure is engineered for maximum strength and durability:

  • Head and Covers: Made of anodized aluminum alloy, lightweight and corrosion-resistant.
  • Bowl: Manufactured in steel, capable of withstanding working pressures up to 1 MPa (10 bar).
  • Element Support: Made of polyamide for the FOF2 series and aluminum alloy for the FOF3 and FOF4 series.
  • Seals: Standard NBR nitrile, with optional FKM fluoroelastomer available on request.

High-Efficiency Filter Elements

The series uses ERF filter elements featuring advanced FormulaUFI media:

  • FormulaUFI.MICRON (FA, FB, FC, FD): Inorganic fiberglass media with absolute filtration ratings of 5, 7, 12 and 21 µm (ß > 1,000), ensuring maximum fluid cleanliness.
  • FormulaUFI.CELL (CC): Impregnated cellulose, rated 10 µm.
  • FormulaUFI.WEB (ME): Wire mesh, rated 60 µm.
  • FormulaUFI.H2O (WR): Special media for absorbing free water in the fluid.

The filter elements are designed to withstand a collapse differential pressure of 3 MPa (30 bar), ensuring structural integrity even under severe conditions.

FOF UFI Off-Line Filters cover a wide range of flow rates:

  • Maximum Flow Rate (Qmax): Up to 1,500 l/min.
  • Operating Temperature: From –25°C to +110°C.
  • Bypass Valve: Optional, factory-set at 170 kPa (1.7 bar) ±10% to ensure continuous flow.
  • Connections: Available with BSP, NPT, SAE threads and SAE 3000 psi flanges, in sizes from 1″1/2 to 4″.

Accessories and Maintenance

Maintenance is simplified thanks to the top-access design. Available accessories include clogging indicators (visual or electrical), magnetic cores for retaining ferrous particles, and mounting brackets.
