FSE Series Spin-On Suction Filters UFI: Protection and Practicality

The FSE series by UFI Filters represents an effective and compact solution for filtration on the suction line of hydraulic systems. These spin-on filters are designed to be installed directly on the tank, immersed in the fluid, providing essential protection for the pump against contaminant particles that could cause premature wear or failures.

Construction Features and Materials

FSE filters are built to ensure reliability and durability:

• Head: Made of aluminum alloy, lightweight and corrosion-resistant.
• Spin-On Cartridge: The cartridge body is made of steel, ensuring structural robustness.
• Bypass Valve: Integrated into the filter, made of polyamide and set at 30 kPa (0.30 bar) ±10% to prevent pump cavitation in case of element clogging or cold starts.
• Seals: Standard NBR (Nitrile), with optional FKM (Fluoroelastomer) available on request.

FormulaUFI Filter Elements

The series uses ESE family filter elements, available with different media to suit specific cleanliness requirements:

• FormulaUFI.CELL (CC/CD): Impregnated cellulose media with filtration ratings of 10 µm and 25 µm.
• FormulaUFI.WEB (ME/MF): Metal mesh media with filtration ratings of 60 µm and 90 µm. The filter element is designed to withstand a collapse differential pressure of 400 kPa (4 bar).

Performance and Technical Specifications

FSE UFI suction filters are designed for systems with low to medium flow rates:

• Maximum Flow Rate (Qmax): Up to 75 l/min.
• Connections: Available with BSP threads (from 3/4″ to 1″1/2) or SAE 3000 psi flanges with metric bolts.
• Operating Temperature: They operate effectively over a wide temperature range, from -25°C to +110°C.

Fluid Compatibility

These filters are fully compatible with hydraulic fluids classified as HH, HL, HM, HV, and HTG according to ISO 6743/4.

Special Configurations

For higher flow rates or specific requirements, the FSE 3+ and FSE 4+ models use dual-cartridge configurations (e.g. FSE31 uses two ESE21 elements), doubling the filtration surface and dirt-holding capacity.
