Description
The in-line filters of the FZH series are high-pressure devices specifically certified for installation in potentially explosive atmospheres. They connect directly to system lines through dedicated hydraulic fittings, ensuring a high level of fluid cleanliness and protection for the most sensitive hydraulic components. The flow through the filter element follows the direction from outside to inside (OUT to IN).
Design Features and Materials
The filter structure is designed to withstand extreme environmental and chemical conditions.
- Head and Body: The head, external housing, and bypass valve are entirely made of AISI 316L stainless steel.
- Connections: The filters feature 1/2″ female threaded connections designed to support a maximum flow rate of 80 l/min. Variants include NPT, SAE, and G threads depending on the model (FZH 012 or FZH 040).
- Bypass Valve: Where provided, the bypass valve operates to relieve excessive pressure drop across the filter element, with an opening pressure calibrated at 6 bar (±10%).
Pressure Ratings and Testing
The MP Filter Series FZHEX ATEX ensures exceptional tolerance against pressure spikes and mechanical wear.
- Operating Pressure: Maximum working pressure up to 70 MPa (700 bar).
- Testing and Burst: The test pressure is 105 MPa (1050 bar), while the minimum burst pressure reaches 210 MPa (2100 bar).
- Fatigue Test: The component is validated for 1,000,000 fatigue cycles with pulsating pressures from 0 to 70 MPa.
Filter Elements: Series and Media
The system offers multiple configurations for filter elements, to be selected based on the presence or absence of the bypass valve and the type of fluid.
- Low Collapse (20 bar): Series “N” (standard) and “R” (with external support against back pressure) elements are suitable for use in filters equipped with a bypass valve.
- High Collapse (210 bar): Series “H” and “S” elements (with external support) are designed for use in filters without a bypass valve.
- Aggressive Fluids: The “U” series provides stainless steel high-collapse (210 bar) filter elements specifically designed for corrosive fluids.
- Filtration Ratings: Available in inorganic microfiber with ratings of 3 µm (A03), 6 µm (A06), 10 µm (A10), 16 µm (A16), and 25 µm (A25).
ATEX Compliance, Seals, and Temperature
ATEX (Ex) certifications make these filters suitable for hazardous environments.
- zerospark+ Configuration (NBR Seals): Ambient temperature from -15°C to +80°C (Temperature class T6, Max surface temperature T85°C). Certification: II 3G Ex h IIC T6… T4 Gc X / II 3D Ex h IIIC T85°C… T115°C Dc X.
- zerospark Configuration (FPM / MFQ Seals): FPM and MFQ seals extend the fluid thermal tolerance up to +110°C. Certification: II 3G Ex h IIC T6 Gc X / II 3D Ex h IIIC T85°C Dc X. FZH filters are supplied for vertical mounting.
Applications and Industries
The filters are designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions. Typical applications include:
- Offshore equipment and platforms.
- Water filtration systems.
- Installations operating with corrosive fluids or in highly aggressive environments.
