MP Filter Series FZM

The MP Filter Series FZM is designed to protect sensitive components in high-pressure hydraulic circuits exposed to harsh environmental conditions. Built in AISI 316L stainless steel, it withstands pressures up to 320 bar and handles flow rates up to 70 l/min. Featuring a flanged interface for manifold mounting and ISO 4401 compatibility (CETOP 3 and 5), it requires strictly vertical installation. It is the solution for off-shore applications, water filtration and corrosive fluids.

Description

MP Filter Series FZM: Reliability for High-Pressure Systems

The FZM series is a range of high-pressure stainless steel filters, specifically developed to protect delicate components in hydraulic circuits operating under highly adverse environmental conditions. These devices are designed for top manifold mounting and ensure a maximum operating pressure of 32 MPa (320 bar), precisely handling fluid flow rates up to 70 l/min.

Operating Principle and Installation

The connection is made directly on the top side of the manifold block via a dedicated flanged interface, supporting connections up to Ø15 mm to maximize volumetric flow. The unit features an ISO 4401 compliant interface, specifically CETOP 3 and CETOP 5, enabling direct and secure mounting onto the corresponding proportional or directional valves. Installation for the FZM series is strictly vertical, ensuring proper drainage and accessibility for maintenance operations. The hydraulic path of the fluid through the filter element consistently follows the direction from outside to inside (OUT to IN).

Structural Features and Materials

To provide excellent resistance to corrosion and maximum mechanical stress, both the head and the filter body are entirely made of AISI 316L stainless steel. The internal bypass valve, where included in the configuration, is also constructed from the same material to prevent any initiation of oxidation or structural failure. The system allows the installation of differential clogging indicators, available in visual, electrical and electronic versions, for continuous monitoring of contamination levels. The weights of the FZM 039 model range from 5.0 kg to 6.1 kg, with internal volumes between 0.19 dm³ and 0.34 dm³, depending on the selected filter body length (available in sizes 2, 3 and 4, corresponding to heights of 160 mm, 203 mm and 247 mm).

Filter Elements and Bypass Valve

Fine filtration ensures strict maintenance of the required contamination class within the system. Three different filter element configurations are available:

  • “R” Series: Features microfiber elements with low collapse resistance (20 bar), with nylon end caps, a tin-plated steel central support tube and epoxy resin-coated metal mesh supports. It integrates an external support essential to protect the element from backpressure in systems equipped with a bypass valve or from reverse flows.
  • “S” Series: Offers high-collapse elements (210 bar) with tin-plated steel end caps and tube, painted external support and internal reinforcement in stainless steel mesh. This is the ideal technical configuration for filters without bypass.
  • “U” Series: Ensures maximum collapse resistance of 210 bar and is entirely built in stainless steel (end caps, tube and supports), suitable for exclusive use with chemically aggressive fluids.

The bypass valve has an opening pressure precisely set at 6 bar (±10% tolerance), designed to effectively relieve excessive pressure drops (Δp) across the media.

Applications, Fluids and Seals

The combination of premium materials and tight tolerances makes this component critical for the most demanding sectors. Main applications include off-shore platform equipment, filtration plants for water-based circuits and complex systems characterized by highly corrosive fluids. The series’ tolerated operating temperature range spans from a minimum of -50°C to a maximum of +120°C. For sealing and total hydraulic tightness, the block can be equipped with standard NBR seals (series A, -25°C to +110°C), optional FPM seals (series V, -20°C to +120°C), or optional MFQ seals (series F, specifically for -50°C to +120°C).
