The ATEX pumps are variable displacement vane pumps for low or high operating pressures, equipped with a pressure control device that can be mechanical (PLPX), hydraulic (PHPX), or constant power (PHPKX), allowing the delivered flow to instantly adjust according to the circuit’s demand.
Variable displacement vane pumps are positive displacement pumps; therefore, they deliver a maximum flow rate equivalent to their displacement multiplied by the rotational speed.
The operating pressure is generated by the pressure losses the fluid encounters along its path through the system. When the outlet pressure (in the system) reaches the pump’s set pressure, the delivered flow automatically adjusts to the system’s demand; once this value is reached, the pump reduces its flow rate down to zero while maintaining an almost constant pressure. Under zero-demand conditions, the pump only delivers oil to compensate for possible leakages and pilot flows.
This series of pumps is certified for applications in potentially explosive atmospheres.
The Berarma Atex Pumps are variable displacement vane pumps for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, CE marked according to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU and available in the families PLPX, PHPX and PHPKX. PLPX are designed for low pressures (100–120 bar), PHPX for high pressures (250 bar), while PHPKX integrate a constant power control device for medium pressures (180 bar). These series are characterized by quiet operation, high volumetric efficiency, long service life, modularity and energy savings; various mounting flanges, pressure/flow controls and multiple pump coupling options are available.
The nominal sizes cover GR.05 – GR.1 – GR.2 – GR.3 with nominal displacements 16 / 20–25–32 / 40–50–63 / 80–100–120 cm³/rev and actual displacements 17 / 21–26–33 / 42–51–63 / 80–100–120 cm³/rev. The maximum operating pressure (Pmax) depends on the family and size: PLPX 120 bar (GR.05), 100 bar (GR.1 and GR.2), 90 bar (GR.3); PHPX 250 bar (all sizes); PHPKX 180 bar.
The adjustment ranges are: PLPX H 20–120 (GR.05); L 15–50 and H 30–100 (GR.1/GR.2); L 30–50 and H 50–90 (GR.3). PHPX: H 20–250 (GR.05/GR.1/GR.2) and H 30–250 (GR.3). PHPKX: H Pmin–180 (limits depending on power setting).
Speed range: 800–1800 rpm (GR.05 and GR.1) and 800–1500 rpm (GR.2 and GR.3). Inlet pressure: 0.8–1.5 bar absolute. Maximum drain pressure: 1 bar. Direction of rotation: R right-hand (clockwise, shaft side). Shaft loads: radial and axial forces are not allowed. Maximum torque on primary shaft (Tmax): 130 / 250 / 586 / 900 Nm respectively for GR.05 / GR.1 / GR.2 / GR.3.
Approved fluids: HM oil (ISO 6743/4) and HLP (DIN 51524/2). Operating viscosity: 22–68 cSt; at startup (open outlet): max 400 cSt; viscosity index: ≥100. Fluid temperature at inlet: +15 / +60 °C; ambient temperature: 0 / +50 °C. Contamination level: max 20/18/15 ISO 4406/99 – NAS 1638 class 9; recommended 18/16/13 ISO 4406/99 – NAS 1638 class 7. Shock limit: mass 1.0 kg from 0.7 m.
Marking Ex h according to EN ISO 80079-37 (protection by constructional safety “c” and liquid immersion “k”); Group II, Category 2/2 for G (gas/vapors/mists) and D (dust), groups IIC/IIIC, temperature classes T4 / T135°C, protection levels EPL Gb/Db. The symbol “X” indicates specific operating conditions to be observed according to the TECHNICAL DATA.
