The SSF-150/180 Spin-On Filter Heads are hydraulic components designed to ensure efficiency and reliability in return-line and suction-line applications. The unit is engineered to withstand a maximum operating pressure of 14 bar (200 PSI), with resistance to differential pressure up to 5.5 bar (80 PSI) for applications without a bypass valve. In terms of fluid handling, these filter heads deliver high performance: they allow a maximum flow rate of 300 l/min (80 US GPM) for return-line applications and 113 l/min (30 US GPM) for suction-line use. The operating temperature range is extremely wide, enabling use in environments from -30°C to +100°C (-22°F to +212°F).
Design Features and Materials
The filter head is manufactured entirely from aluminum, ensuring an excellent balance between light weight and mechanical strength. The design includes standardized mounting holes (6x) with 5/16-18 UNC threads (depth .88), facilitating installation on various types of machinery. The connection ports are available in two main configurations to meet international standards:
- NPT: 1-1/2.
- SAE O-ring thread: 1-7/8-12. A clearance of 30 mm (1.18 in) is required for removal of the filter element, a key detail for routine maintenance.
Compatibility and Filter Element Configuration
The SSF-150/180 Spin-On Filter Heads are specifically developed for use with SF-67 series filter elements (with Type B sealing contour). It is important to note that the filter element is not included with the filter head and must be selected according to the flow characteristics required by the specific application. Media compatibility covers mineral oils, with the option to evaluate other fluids upon request.
Bypass and Indicator Options
To maximize circuit protection, the filter heads can be configured with an optional integrated bypass valve. Available bypass opening pressure settings include:
- 0.2 bar (3 PSI).
- 0.35 bar (5 PSI).
- 1.0 bar (15 PSI).
- 1.7 bar (25 PSI). A no-bypass option is also available for specific requirements. For monitoring filter condition, 1/8 NPT ports for clogging indicators are provided. The filter heads can be supplied with ports prepared for the return line (Pos. 1), suction line (Pos. 2), or with all ports drilled, depending on the selected order code.
