The SSFT-12 Stauff Spin-On Filter Heads are an advanced technical solution for controlling fluid contamination in hydraulic systems. Designed as a “Tank Top Spin-On filter head,” these units are intended for direct installation on top of the reservoir. The construction is made of aluminum, a material that ensures light weight and sufficient structural strength for the typical stresses of mobile and industrial applications. Overall dimensions include a flange diameter of 90 mm (3.54 in) and a total height above the mounting surface of 55 mm (2.16 in), excluding the filter cartridge.
Operating Performance and Working Conditions
From a performance standpoint, the SSFT-12 series is rated for a maximum flow rate of 75 l/min (20 US GPM). The head structure supports a maximum operating pressure of 7 bar (100 PSI). The operating temperature range is particularly wide, allowing operation from -30°C to +100°C (-22°F … +212°F), making the component suitable even for harsh climatic environments. In terms of chemical compatibility, the heads are approved for use with mineral oils; operation with other fluids is available upon specific request.
Filter Element Compatibility and Valves
The SSFT-12 heads are designed exclusively for use in combination with filter elements from the SFCT-35 and SFCT-36 series. It is important to note that the bypass valve, set at 1.7 bar (25 PSI), is not integrated into the head itself but into the filter element to be installed. The head accepts elements with Type A and Type B sealing profiles. Compatible element lengths range from 145 mm (5.70 in) for the SFCT-35 series to 210 mm (8.27 in) for the SFCT-36 series.
Connection Specifications and Variants
The standard configuration of the SSFT-12 series includes 3/4″ NPT threaded main connections (Code 12). Depending on the order code, specific options are available for the clogging indicator port:
- Option 0: No clogging indicator port.
- Option 1: Drilled clogging indicator port for return-line applications.
- Option 9: Special version. When present, the standard indicator port is 1/8 NPT. Tank mounting is performed via 4 holes of Ø 7.5 mm.
