Stauff SF-TM Pressure Filters

The Stauff SF-TM Pressure Filters are specifically designed for direct mounting on manifold blocks in high-pressure hydraulic applications up to 315 bar. Built with a free-cutting steel or spheroidal graphite cast iron head and a cold-drawn steel bowl, they offer a minimum burst pressure of 945 bar. Available in standard and “Toploader” versions (with a two-piece bowl for top element replacement), they handle flow rates of up to 1135 l/min and integrate multiple valve and indicator options.

Description

Overview and Manifold Mounting

The Stauff SF-TM pressure filter series is engineered for installation on manifold blocks (manifold block mounting), with mounting holes and fluid ports located on the top of the filter head. This configuration makes them ideal for compact, high-performance hydraulic systems, ensuring a maximum operating pressure of 315 bar (4560 PSI) and structural safety guaranteed by a minimum burst pressure of 945 bar (13,705 PSI).

Design Features and Materials

Robustness is ensured by the use of size-specific materials. For sizes SF-TM-014 to 125, the filter head is manufactured from free-cutting steel, while for larger sizes, from SF-TM-090 to 300, spheroidal graphite cast iron is used. The filter bowl is always made of cold-drawn steel. O-ring seals are available in NBR, FKM (Viton®), and EPDM to ensure compatibility with various fluids, primarily mineral oils.

“Toploader” Configurations and Maintenance

A distinctive feature of the SF-TM series is the availability of the “Toploader” (TL) version. This configuration features a two-piece filter bowl, allowing the filter element to be replaced from the top, greatly simplifying maintenance operations in confined spaces. The TL version is optionally available for all sizes (from 014 to 160) and is the only construction option for sizes 250 and 300.

Integrated Valves and Flow Management

SF-TM filters offer exceptional flexibility in flow management thanks to several valve options integrated into the filter head:

  • Bypass valve: Standard setting at 6 bar (+0.5), allows unfiltered oil to pass in the event of clogging to protect the system.
  • Reverse flow valve: Allows reverse flow through the head without back-flushing the element.
  • Check valve: Prevents the pressure line from draining during element replacement.
  • Multi-function valve: Combines bypass, reverse flow, and check valve functions into a single component.

Filter Elements and Indicators

The filters are designed for use with SE series filter elements, available in inorganic glass fiber, stainless steel fiber, and wire mesh, with filtration ratings from 3 µm to 200 µm. For monitoring purposes, visual and electrical clogging indicators are available, with a standard actuation pressure of 5 bar.
