Description
General Overview and Applications
The Stauff SFA Pressure Filter series is specifically designed for in-line installation, with threaded mounting holes on the top of the filter head for secure and simplified assembly. These filters are ideal for hydraulic circuits operating with mineral oils, ensuring high contaminant removal efficiency when used with Stauff SE series filter elements.
Pressure Ratings and Materials
The robust design features a die-cast aluminum filter head and an aluminum bowl, combining light weight with mechanical strength. Pressure specifications vary by filter size:
- SFA-014/030 models: Maximum operating pressure of 160 bar (2320 PSI), with the possibility to reach 190 bar according to ANSI T2.6.1. R2-2001.
- SFA-045/070 models: Maximum operating pressure of 150 bar (2175 PSI). The minimum burst pressure is certified at 480 bar, ensuring a high safety margin.
Flow Management and Integrated Valves
A distinctive feature of the SFA series is its flexibility in flow management, thanks to several valve options integrated into the filter head:
- Bypass valve: Standard setting at 6 bar (+0.5 bar), allows oil to bypass a clogged element to protect the system.
- Reverse flow valve: Allows reverse flow through the head without causing back-flushing of the filter element.
- Check valve: Prevents the pressure line from draining during element replacement.
- Multi-function valve: Combines bypass, reverse flow capability, and check valve functions in a single compact component.
Filter Elements and Connections
The filters support SE series filter elements with inorganic glass fiber, stainless steel fiber, or wire mesh media, covering filtration ratings from 3 µm to 200 µm. Connection options are extensive and include BSP, NPT, SAE O-ring, and SAE 3000 PSI flanges (Code 61), accommodating nominal flow rates ranging from 60 l/min (SFA-014) up to 240 l/min (SFA-070).
Monitoring and Maintenance
To facilitate preventive maintenance, the filters can be equipped with visual, electrical, or visual-electrical clogging indicators, set to activate at a differential pressure of 5 bar, anticipating the opening of the bypass valve.
