Overview and Applications

The Stauff SFZ Pressure Filter series is engineered for hydraulic applications requiring sandwich plate mounting on manifold blocks. These components are designed to operate in high-pressure systems, ensuring a maximum operating pressure of 315 bar (4560 PSI) and a minimum burst pressure of 945 bar (13,705 PSI), thus providing a high structural safety factor.

Design Specifications and Materials

Robustness is a core feature of the SFZ series. The filter head is manufactured from free-cutting steel, while the bowl is made of cold-drawn steel. To ensure optimal sealing, the filters are equipped with O-rings available in NBR (Buna-N®), FKM (Viton®), or EPDM, combined with PTFE backup rings. The connection interface complies with ISO 4401-03-02-0-05 NG6 / DIN 24340-A6 / Cetop R 35 H standards.

Filter Elements and Media

SFZ filters use Stauff SE series filter elements, offering high dirt-holding capacity and long service life. Various filter media can be selected depending on the application:

• Inorganic glass fiber (Codes G and H): Available with collapse pressure of 25 bar (G) or 210 bar (H) for fine filtration (3, 5, 10, 20 µm).
• Stainless steel fiber (Code M): High collapse resistance (210 bar) for fine filtration.
• Stainless steel wire mesh (Code S): Collapse pressure of 30 bar for coarse filtration (25, 50, 100, 200 µm).

Indicators and Safety Devices

For monitoring the condition of the filter element, visual, electrical, or visual-electrical clogging indicators are available, with a standard actuation pressure of 5 bar. It is important to note that the filter element is not protected by an internal bypass; therefore, the hydraulic system must be designed with sufficient means to protect the element from overpressure. Available options also include a “Thermostop” function to inhibit the electrical signal at low temperatures.
