System Architecture and Configuration

The AMI 5C Directional Control Valve stands out for its sectional architecture, which allows the assembly of flexible control units. The block can be configured using from 1 up to a maximum of 10 sections, adapting precisely to the specific requirements of the hydraulic system. The standard version of the component is configured with the inlet positioned on the left-hand side; however, the unit is equipped with a reversible spool that allows inverting the inlet (right or left) according to the required installation layout. The system is natively designed for parallel distribution and includes pre-arrangement for continuing the pressure line, commonly referred to as CARRY-OVER, facilitating the series connection of additional downstream components.

Operating Parameters and Hydraulic Performance

In terms of thermodynamic and fluid dynamic performance, the component ensures optimal operation with a nominal flow rate of 50 liters per minute. The structure is sized to withstand a maximum working pressure of 350 bar, while the maximum allowable backpressure on the return line is set at 80 bar. Supported fluid operating temperatures range from a minimum of -30°C to a maximum of 80°C. Regarding sealing tolerances, maximum spool leakage is strictly contained within 20 ml/min, a value tested at a pressure of 100 bar, with a fluid temperature of 50°C and a kinematic viscosity of 27 cSt. Pressure drop curves vary proportionally according to the flow rate and the number of sections used.

Construction Features and Integrated Valves

The engineering of the directional control valve includes a series of safety and flow control devices. An inlet check valve is included, essential for preventing unwanted backflow that could damage the pump. The internal geometry features negative spool overlap. In addition, the base module integrates a standard main relief valve, which is adjustable over a wide range from 10 to 350 bar, allowing precise calibration of the circuit safety threshold. Upon specific request, the entire block can undergo an anti-rust treatment for operation in highly corrosive environments.

Connections, Port Threads, and Pilot Controls

The system offers a wide range of interfaces for hydraulic and pneumatic connections. Standard service ports (P1-P2, T2, T1-STC) feature 1/2″ BSP threads, while A-B ports use 3/8″ BSP connections. To meet various international standards, alternative port threads are available upon request, including 1/2″-14 NPT and metric configurations such as 18×1.5 and 22×1.5. Finally, regarding control connections, pneumatic pilot lines require 1/8″ BSP ports, while hydraulic pilot lines use 1/4″ BSP connections.
