Description
Oleo Tecnica Butt-Weld Counter Flanges for Metric Pipe with Cylindrical Bore are designed to ensure stable and secure connections within hydraulic systems operating under high pressure. The mechanical design of these flanges focuses on optimising fastening and sealing performance, allowing seamless integration into heavily stressed industrial piping networks.
Structure and Operating Principle
The operating principle is based on butt welding combined with a cylindrical bore designed to accommodate metric pipe sections, creating a unified assembly with very high mechanical strength. The fastening holes integrated into the counter flange allow precise tightening, distributing loads evenly and preventing fluid leakage within the system. It is essential to emphasise a key technical principle: while the maximum recommended working pressure stated in the tables is based exclusively on the structural capacity of the flange itself, the maximum working pressure of the complete system will ultimately depend on the wall thickness and material type (steel quality) of the pipe used in conjunction with it.
Size Series and Pressure Specifications
The range is divided into two primary variants to meet different volumetric and pressure load requirements: Series 3000 and Series 6000.
Series 3000 covers sizes from 3/4″ up to 4″. The maximum recommended working pressures for this series vary according to size: 345 Kg/cm² for 3/4″ and 1″ sizes, decreasing to 276 Kg/cm² for the 1″1/4 size, 207 Kg/cm² for 1″1/2 and 2″, 172 Kg/cm² for the 2″1/2 size, 138 Kg/cm² for 3″, and finally 34 Kg/cm² for the larger 3″1/2 and 4″ versions. Weights in this series range from a minimum of 0.39 Kg up to a maximum of 2.85 Kg.
Series 6000 is engineered for even more demanding hydraulic applications. Sizes range from 1/2″ up to 2″1/2. Supported pressures remain at 345 Kg/cm² for the smaller sizes (1/2″, 3/4″, 1″), decrease to 276 Kg/cm² for the 1″1/4 models and specific 1″1/2 variants, and then reach a maximum peak of 414 Kg/cm² for the enhanced 1″1/2 model (GFS405SRE48), the 2″ sizes and the 2″1/2 size. Weight in this series ranges from 0.25 Kg for the base model up to 6.50 Kg for the 2″1/2 unit.
Construction Features and Materials
The counter flanges are manufactured in two highly reliable industrial materials. The first standard option is S355 steel, ideal for heavy mechanical and hydraulic applications. The second option is AISI 316L stainless steel, required for highly corrosive environments or sectors subject to stringent corrosion-resistance standards.
Thread Variants and Ordering Designation
Installation flexibility is ensured by the availability of two fastening-hole standards: metric threading and UNC threading. For metric threads, bolt sizes range from M8 to M24, while UNC threads range from 5/16″ to 1/8″.
The ordering designation follows a precise coding system according to material and hole configuration:
- Counter flange with metric holes in S355: GFS…SRE/STRE
- Counter flange with metric holes in AISI 316L: GFX…SRE/STRE
- Counter flange with UNC holes in S355: GFS…SREU/STREU
- Counter flange with UNC holes in AISI 316L: GFX…SREU/STREU
