The PZ series represents one of SEIM’s most recent developments, designed to innovate and expand the brand’s success in low-pressure lubrication circuits. This positive displacement pump stands out for its reliable performance and remarkable application flexibility, finding use in various sectors, from industrial to marine.

Operating Principle and Advantages of Three-Screw Technology

The PZ Seim Pump embodies all the benefits of three-screw technology, ensuring superior performance and efficient operation. The design guarantees:

• Extremely quiet operation: The screw profile and precision machining minimize noise emissions during operation.
• Very low pulsations: Fluid transfer occurs continuously and evenly, virtually eliminating pulsations in the circuit and protecting downstream components.
• High self-priming capability: The pump can draw fluid without external priming, simplifying start-up and installation.
• Performance with aerated fluids: Maintains excellent performance even in the presence of emulsified air in the fluid, without performance loss.
• Clean operation: The three-screw design does not introduce contaminants into the pumped fluid, preserving its chemical-physical properties.
• Reduced maintenance: The robustness of the components and the absence of rapidly wearing parts limit the need for maintenance interventions.

Construction Features and Installation Flexibility

The design of the PZ series has been engineered to maximize versatility and long-term durability.

• Structure and Materials: The pump body and flanges are made of GG25 cast iron (standard) or, upon request, of spheroidal cast iron GGG40 for applications requiring higher strength, such as in the marine sector. The screw set is made of nitrided carbon steel to ensure high surface hardness and wear resistance.
• Port Configuration: Suction and discharge ports are “in line” and available with connection flanges conforming to DIN standards (standard) or ANSI (on request), facilitating integration into any plant layout.
• Mounting: The pump offers great installation flexibility, as it can be mounted both horizontally and vertically. Optional mounting feet are available for both configurations.
• Seal and Bearing: The seal is mechanical, with optional flushing. The radial ball bearing, mounted on the central screw, is external and lubricated for life, eliminating the need for maintenance.

Operating Specifications and Compatible Fluids

The PZ Seim Pump is designed to operate with a wide range of fluids under different conditions.

• Handled Fluids: Suitable for hydraulic oils, lubricating oils, DO (Diesel Oil), MDO (Marine Diesel Oil), and HFO (Heavy Fuel Oil).
• Pressure and Flow: The discharge pressure reaches a maximum of 16 bar, while suction pressure can range from -0.5 to 10 bar. The flow rate range extends from less than 50 up to 5400 l/min, without the need for supercharging.
• Viscosity and Temperature: The standard viscosity range is from 1.2 to 5,000 cSt (with specific configurations). The standard operating temperature is between 0 and 120 °C.

Model Coding and Available Variants

The model coding allows precise identification of the pump configuration: PZ[Screw Diameter]#[Number of Starts][Pitch Length] – [Rotation] – [Motor Flange] – [Seal Type] – [Valve] – [Pump Version] – [Mounting]

• Screw diameter: Defines the pump size (e.g. 032, 040, …, 156).
• Seal type: Z01 for standard mechanical seal, Z03 for HFO/LFO applications.
• Safety valve: Available with adjustable valve from 0 to 16 bar (CV) or without valve (SV).
• Pump version: Z01 is the standard version, Z03 for HFO/LFO, and Z05 for GGG40 cast iron body.
• Mounting: Without foot (00), with foot for vertical mounting (62) or horizontal mounting (63).

Certifications and Accompanying Documentation

To ensure the highest quality, every PZ Seim Pump is 100% internally tested. The series has obtained type approval from ABS (American Bureau of Shipping). On request, SEIM provides complete documentation including individual test certificates (also witnessed), hydrostatic tests, and material certificates according to UNI EN 10204. Certifications from other bodies such as DNV, Lloyd’s Register, and Korean Register (KR) are also available on request.
