Plate heat exchangers are made of corrugated plates.
The plates are rotated 180° relative to each other to create an intersecting channel network. Fluids can flow in both counterflow and parallel flow modes.
The plates are bonded using brazing material in special vacuum furnaces. The unique corrugation allows for turbulent flow, enhancing thermal transfer and reducing dirt accumulation on the plates.
The Emmegi Plate Heat Exchangers offer a highly efficient solution for applications in the hydraulic and industrial sectors, thanks to their compact design, outstanding performance, and exceptional resistance to extreme pressures and temperatures. These devices are engineered to ensure optimal heat transfer through the use of corrugated plates made of AISI 316 stainless steel, assembled by vacuum brazing with 99.95% pure copper. The entire structure is designed to maximize fluid turbulence, thereby increasing thermal efficiency and minimizing deposit buildup.
The internal configuration of Emmegi exchangers features plates rotated 180° relative to one another, creating an intersecting network of channels. This geometry allows fluid flow in counterflow mode—ideal for maximizing heat exchange—or in parallel flow for specific applications. The special corrugation of the plates promotes turbulent flow, which is crucial for achieving a high heat transfer coefficient.
Standard connections are made from AISI 321 and vary depending on the model, with female threaded fittings from 1/2″, 3/4″, or 1″, up to male threads of 2″. Connections K1 and K4 are dedicated to the hot side, while K2 and K3 manage the inlet and outlet of the cold fluid. Custom configurations are available on request for non-standard requirements.
All models in the range operate within a temperature range of -10°C to +230°C, with a maximum operating pressure of up to 30 bar for the most compact models (PB014, PB022, PB034, PB031, PB047, PB060) and up to 23 bar for larger models (PB110, PB170). The product range includes configurations from 6 to 150 plates, with internal circuit volumes ranging from 0.066 to over 19 liters, depending on the number of plates and the specific model.
Each model comes with a performance diagram based on ISO VG46 oil at 50°C, with an oil/water flow rate ratio of 2:1. Dimensions and weights vary significantly: starting from a compact footprint and less than 1 kg in weight for the smallest models, up to more than 90 kg for the 150-plate PB170 configurations. Optional mounting brackets are also available in various sizes depending on the model.
