PHPK pumps

PHPK pumps are variable-displacement vane pumps with high operating pressure and a constant-power hydraulic-type pressure regulating device that allow instantaneous adjustment of the flow rate delivered according to the circuit demands.

Variable-displacement vane pumps are positive displacement pumps; therefore, they deliver a maximum flow rate equivalent to its displacement times its rotational speed. The operating pressure is due to the pressure drops that the fluid encounters as it travels through the system.

When the discharge pressure (on the system) equals the set pressure of the pump, the flow rate delivered adjusts to the values required by the system; having reached this value, the pump reduces its flow rate to zero, keeping the pressure nearly constant. Under conditions of zero required flow rate, the pump delivers only oil to compensate for any leaks and piloting. In addition, the constant power device allows optimal utilization of the power absorbed by the pump.

The operating principle is based on keeping the product flow rate x pressure (q x p) almost constant, so that an increase in pressure corresponds to a decrease in flow rate and vice versa, according to a hyperbolic-type characteristic curve.
