CB SERIES HYDRAULIC CYLYNDERS
The Grices CB Series Hydraulic Cylinders are compact short-stroke actuators designed for clamping and mould applications in confined spaces. Made with a light-alloy body and hard anodised finish, they provide exceptional resistance and operate at pressures of up to 25 MPa. The available product families and execution variants are: CB, KCB, SCB, TFD, TMD, SEP00 and CAP25, with EB, AF, AP and AL port configurations and B, C, N, M and D versions.
The Grices CB Series Hydraulic Cylinders are an advanced technical solution for industrial automation, specifically designed to operate in confined spaces. Their compact dimensions and low weight make them ideal components for use on moulds and in clamping systems in general. The series includes standard versions and versions equipped with adjustable magnetic sensors for accurate stroke control.
The cylinder body is machined from solid light alloy with an integrated rear end cap. To maximise product reliability and service life, the body undergoes a new hard anodising treatment. This finish increases surface hardness to values between 400 and 600 Vickers, providing greater resistance to wear and abrasion. The piston rod is made of steel and can be supplied in chrome-plated or AISI 316 stainless steel versions. The sealing system uses seals from leading international manufacturers, made of nitrile rubber and PTFE, ensuring effective isolation and smooth operation. The guide bushing is made of cast iron, while the piston guide is made of pure PTFE.
From a fluid dynamics standpoint, the series is designed to withstand a nominal pressure of 16 MPa under continuous operation and a maximum pressure of 25 MPa. The bore range is extensive and includes diameters of 25, 32, 40, 50, 63, 80 and 100 mm. The maximum piston speed is 0.5 m/s; however, it is technically recommended to limit the end-of-stroke speed to 0.1 m/s by using specific flow restrictors. The operating temperature ranges from -20°C to +80°C for all versions, while the standard version only, without magnets, can withstand temperatures of up to +135°C. The cylinders are manufactured with a stroke tolerance of +/- 0.5 mm.
Hydraulic integration is ensured by four port configurations: EB (Basic), AF (Front Supply), AP (Rear Supply) and AL (Side Supply) . The net weight of the components varies according to the specifications, ranging from 0.8 kg for the model with a 25 mm bore and 20 mm stroke to 12 kg for the model with a 100 mm bore and 50 mm stroke.
The magnetic version of the cylinder supports the installation of adjustable IP67 proximity sensors. More specifically, the series accommodates Hall-effect sensors (SEP) and Reed sensors (SER). The PNP electronic sensor, code SEP00, operates at 10…30 DC and provides extremely short response times, with a switching frequency of 6000 Hz. Access to the EPC configurator is available to support designers and purchasing departments. This digital tool allows users to generate the product code, select seals, such as Viton for version N, export 2D/3D CAD files and request online quotations directly through the platform. Dedicated spare-part codes are also available, including seal kits (KCB) and complete pre-assembled piston rods (SCB).
