The FOX HP Series Piston Accumulator – Non-Repairable is a hydropneumatic component engineered to ensure maximum stability and correct fluid control within complex hydraulic circuits. Specifically developed to withstand high mechanical and pressure stress, this device ensures consistent performance over time thanks to a robust configuration with no external elements subject to easy mechanical wear.
Construction Features
The primary structure of the accumulator consists of a crimped carbon steel body. This specific cold-forming method completely eliminates welds, creating a non-repairable and non-disassemblable monobloc architecture that maximizes structural tightness. Inside this cylinder, an aluminum piston operates, physically separating the pressurized nitrogen from the hydraulic working fluid. Sealing is ensured by standard NBR seals, capable of offering valid chemical resistance to oil and maintaining efficiency over time. Gas precharge is managed through a standard nitrogen valve with 5/8″ UNF thread.
Operating Parameters and Performance
The HP Series is sized to operate with a constant maximum working pressure (PS) of 250 bar. The reliability of the accumulator is validated by rigorous testing, with a test pressure (PT) determined by applying standardized multiplication coefficients to the maximum pressure (PS x 1.43 / 1.3 / 1.5). The permitted operating temperature range (TS) extends from -20°C to +80°C, covering the vast majority of industrial and mobile applications. In application terms, the component offers excellent flexibility: installation is widely permitted in any position. From a thermodynamic and fluid-dynamic standpoint, the piston technology used does not require compliance with defined compression ratio parameters, greatly facilitating sizing calculations during system design.
Customizations and Options Upon Request
To meet particularly critical operating requirements, the accumulator can be equipped with a series of modifications upon request. The seal package can be changed by choosing from polyurethane, FPM or PTFE, thereby ensuring compatibility with special fluids or extreme temperatures. If the circuit handles abrasive fluids, a version equipped with a dedicated scraper is available. Standard hydraulic connections can be replaced with connections featuring SAE 3000, SAE 6000, ANSI B16.5 or UNI/DIN flanges, or manufactured entirely according to customer specifications. High-pressure versions, special non-standard volumes and the X Series made of SS316L stainless steel or exotic materials can also be requested. The outer body can be painted in compliance with project specifications, and monitoring can be optimized by adding an external piston-position level indicator.
International Compliance and Certifications
For export and use in strictly regulated sectors, the FOX HP Series piston accumulator can be supplied with the main international certifications. Available compliance upon request includes the European CE (2014/68/EU-PED) and ATEX (2014/34/EU) directives, ASME VIII Div. 1 or Div. 2 standards (latest edition, U-Stamp + NB) and several other global standards such as EN 14359, EN 13445, KOSHA, SELO, DOSH and naval registers including DNV/RINA, Lloyd’s/ABS and BV.
