MP Filter FMM Series

Description

The MP Filter FMM Series is a line of high-pressure in-line filters developed to reliably protect sensitive components within hydraulic systems. Installation is carried out through direct connection to the circuit lines using standard hydraulic fittings. The fluid flow through the filter element strictly follows a direction from the outside to the inside (from OUT to IN), ensuring maximum effectiveness in retaining contaminating particles. Devices in this series are specifically designed for vertical mounting.

Design Features and Materials

The structural strength of the MP Filter FMM Series is ensured by the use of high-resistance industrial materials. The filter head is made of painted cast iron with a black RAL 9005 finish, while the main housing is made of phosphated steel. The bypass valve, in configurations that include it, is also made of steel. The hydraulic sealing system uses standard NBR seals (series A), with the option of FPM compounds (series V) for specific application needs. The supported operating temperature range extends from -25°C to +110°C.

Performance and Pressure Specifications

Hydraulic performance is at the top of industrial standards. The unit supports a maximum operating pressure of 42 MPa (420 bar) and is capable of handling flow rates up to 300 l/min. Safety and reliability are certified by rigorous structural tests: the test pressure reaches 63 MPa (630 bar) and the minimum burst pressure reaches 126 MPa (1260 bar). The housing has also passed a pulsating pressure fatigue test for 1,000,000 cycles with pressure variations from 0 to 42 MPa (420 bar). In variants equipped with a bypass valve, the standard opening pressure is set at 0.6 MPa (6 bar) with a tolerance of ±10%, customizable on request.

Model Variants: FMM 050 and FMM 150

The range is divided into two main series, FMM 050 and FMM 150, to meet different volumetric and flow requirements. Model FMM 050 offers five different filter element lengths (from 1 to 5), with internal volumes ranging from 0.34 dm³ to 1.23 dm³ and weights varying from 3.11 kg to 5.54 kg. Model FMM 150, suitable for higher flow rates, is available in three lengths (1, 2, 3), with volumes from 0.60 dm³ to 1.25 dm³ and weights ranging from 7.50 kg to 10.90 kg. Both formats feature female threaded connections (up to 1 1/4″ for maximum flow rates of 250 l/min) and include design variants with bypass, with check valve, or without bypass.

Filter Elements and Filtration Rating

The compatibility of filter media is broad and scalable. Inorganic microfiber filters are available in filtration ratings of 3 µm (A03), 6 µm (A06), 10 µm (A10), 16 µm (A16), and 25 µm (A25). For specific applications, a 25 µm metal mesh element (M25) is also available. Depending on the presence of the bypass valve, low-collapse elements (series N at 20 bar), low-collapse elements with external support to withstand back pressure (series R at 20 bar), or high-collapse elements with external support (series S at 210 bar) for configurations without bypass can be used. Multiple clogging indicators (visual, electrical, and electronic) are available for continuous efficiency monitoring.

Applications and Reference Industries

Thanks to its high resistance to pressure peaks and vibrations typical of moving equipment, the series finds its ideal application on agricultural machinery and mobile machines. Its ability to maintain strict cleanliness standards makes these filters essential in modern high-pressure hydraulic circuits, preventing premature wear of critical components.
