MP Filter Series LMP 902-903

Description

The MP Filter Series LMP 902-903 provides high-capacity solutions for low and medium pressure filtration. The units are connected to a manifold to reduce pressure drop caused by the filter media and to extend the service life of the filter elements. Direct connection to the system lines is achieved through 4-inch flanged hydraulic fittings, suitable for maximum flow rates up to 3000 l/min. The LMP 902 model uses four CU900 series filter elements, while the LMP 903 model uses six. In terms of size and weight, the LMP 902 filter weighs 89.6 kg with a volume of 58 dm³, while the LMP 903 model weighs 129.2 kg with a volume of 87 dm³.

Materials and Connections

The filters feature a robust structure optimized for industrial applications. The filter head and housing are made of anodized aluminum, ensuring strength and long-term durability. The manifolds are constructed from welded phosphated steel, guaranteeing a secure seal of the entire assembly. The filters operate safely, having passed a test pressure of 30 bar, ensuring a minimum burst pressure of 60 bar and completing fatigue tests with pulsating pressure of 1,000,000 cycles between 0 and 20 bar. Standard seals are supplied in NBR (series A), with FPM (series V) available as an option for specific technical requirements. The manifold configurations support various inlet (IN) and outlet (OUT) connection layouts, including FA, FB, FC, and FD options, all equipped with 4-inch SAE 3000 psi flanges.

Operating Principle and Performance

The filtration process follows a flow direction from outside to inside of the element (OUT to IN). The operating temperature range is from -25°C to +110°C for vertical mounting installation. Filter sizing depends strictly on the kinematic viscosity and density of the fluid; documented tests consider a fluid with a kinematic viscosity of 30 mm²/s and a density of 0.86 kg/dm³. Under these conditions, the LMP 902 model reaches flow rates up to 3987 l/min using wire mesh elements, while the LMP 903 model reaches 4278 l/min with the same configuration. Pressure drop curves are calculated according to ISO 3968 standards and vary proportionally with the density of the hydraulic fluid.

Filter Elements and Valves

The size 1000 filter elements are designed in strict compliance with DIN 24550 standards. Various filtration ratings are available, including inorganic microfiber (from 3 µm to 25 µm), wire mesh (from 25 µm to 90 µm), and paper media. The series also includes water-absorbing elements (WA025) designed to separate free water from the fluid. The system integrates a steel bypass valve with a preset opening pressure of 3.5 bar, designed to relieve excessive pressure drop across the filter media.

Applications and Sectors

These filters are primarily used in lubrication circuits, dedicated filtration systems, and off-line tank filtration applications. The hardware includes vent ports to prevent air entrapment within the system and drain ports to allow easy emptying of the housing before maintenance operations. Monitoring of clogging levels is ensured through compatibility with differential pressure indicators available in visual, electrical, and electronic versions.
