MP Filter STRC & MPAC Series

The MP STRC & MPAC Series devices provide protection for downstream pumps against coarse contamination. Installed below the oil level, they support flow rates up to 1000 l/min through female threaded connections up to 3″. The STRC series optionally offers a bypass valve, while the MPAC series features a robust design with a magnetic column for capturing ferrous particles. These filters are ideal for both industrial and mobile machinery applications.

MP Filter STRC AND MPAC Series

Description

The suction filters of the MP STRC & MPAC Series are specifically designed to protect downstream pumps from coarse contamination. These technical components must be installed below the minimum oil level and directly connected to the hydraulic pump’s suction line. The fluid flow passes through the filter element from the outside to the inside (direction from OUT to IN). Both series handle maximum flow rates up to 1000 l/min and feature female threaded connections up to 3″ in diameter.

Construction Features and Materials

STRC Series

The STRC series features a construction architecture in which the connections and end caps are made of glass fiber-reinforced polyamide (GF). The central tube is made of tinned steel, and the filter element is structured with a metal wire mesh. An additional feature of this series is the integration of a bypass valve, made using GF-reinforced polyamide and steel. This valve is calibrated to open at a pressure of 0.03 MPa (0.3 bar) to relieve any excessive pressure drop across the filter media.

MPAC Series

The MPAC series is distinguished by a particularly robust design, engineered to ensure reliability even in the most demanding heavy-duty applications. The connections are made of aluminum. The rest of the structure, including the tie rod, end cap, central tube, bottom, washers, and locking nut, is made of solid galvanized steel. The filter element uses wire mesh technology. The main operational advantage of this series is the presence of a magnetic filter, specifically introduced to capture harmful ferrous particles that could damage the system.

Technical Specifications, Performance, and Sizing

Both series ensure continuous operation within a strict temperature range, from -25°C to +110°C. Available filtration grades, all based on metal wire mesh technology, include tolerances of 25 µm, 60 µm, 90 µm, and 250 µm. The maximum total pressure drop allowed for a new and clean filter is 0.08 bar (1.15 psi). Proper sizing of the component requires accurate hydraulic analysis: filters support operational flow rates starting from 19 l/min for 3/8″ nominal connections, increasing up to 995 l/min for versions with 3″ connections. These parameters are calculated using a reference fluid with a kinematic viscosity of 30 mm²/s and a density of 0.86 kg/dm³. The available connection configurations comply with ISO 1179-2 (GAS) and ANSI/ASME B 1.20.1 (NPT) standards. The range offers significant dimensional flexibility, from size 045 to 150 for the STRC series and from size 050 to 140 for the MPAC series, with operational weights ranging from 0.11 kg to 1.93 kg depending on size and material.

Applications and Target Sectors

The MP STRC & MPAC Filters are suitable for all applications where pump efficiency and protection are critical to the system. The STRC series is commonly used in mobile machinery, including construction and agricultural equipment, as well as various industrial equipment. In contrast, the MPAC series, due to its robust construction and magnetic separation, is primarily aimed at stationary and heavy industrial equipment.
