The PHPK pumps are variable-displacement vane pumps designed for high operating pressures, equipped with a constant-power hydraulic pressure control device that allows the delivered flow to be instantly adjusted according to the circuit’s requirements.
Variable-displacement vane pumps are volumetric pumps; therefore, they deliver a maximum flow rate equal to their displacement multiplied by the rotational speed. The operating pressure is determined by the pressure losses that the fluid encounters along its path within the system.
When the delivery pressure (in the system) equals the pump’s set pressure, the delivered flow automatically adjusts to the values required by the system; once this value is reached, the pump reduces its flow down to zero while maintaining the pressure nearly constant. In conditions where no flow is required, the pump delivers only the oil needed to compensate for possible leakages and pilot controls. Moreover, the constant-power control device allows optimal utilization of the power absorbed by the pump.
The operating principle is based on maintaining the product of flow × pressure (q × p) nearly constant, so that an increase in pressure corresponds to a proportional decrease in flow and vice versa, following a hyperbolic characteristic curve.
The Berarma PHPK Pumps are variable-displacement vane pumps with a constant power hydraulic compensator. The adjustment keeps the product flow × pressure (q × p) practically constant: as pressure increases, flow decreases, and vice versa, following a hyperbolic characteristic curve. The pump instantly adjusts the flow to match the circuit demand; when the delivery pressure reaches the set value, the flow is reduced down to zero, maintaining the pressure almost constant. In zero-flow conditions, it delivers only the oil needed to compensate for leakages and pilot controls.
Note: the maximum achievable pressure depends on the power setting required.
Designed for cycles with two active phases: fast approach at low pressure and work at low speed and high pressure (e.g., bending, deep-drawing, and cutting presses). This configuration can allow the use of a single pump instead of two.
