PXCA Seim Pump: Technical Analysis and Operating Specifications

The PXCA Seim Pump is a three-screw positive displacement pump designed for demanding applications in industrial and marine sectors. Its typical use concerns lubrication circuits and auxiliary cooling systems, where reliability and consistent performance are essential requirements. The robust construction with a steel body makes it a suitable solution for handling hydraulic and lubricating oils.

Construction Features and Materials

The design of the PXCA Seim Pump focuses on durability and compatibility with technical fluids. The main components are made with selected materials to withstand severe operating conditions.

  • Body and Flanges: Made of Carbon Steel, also available in Low Temperature Carbon Steel version.
  • Screws: The central screw and side screws are made of hardened carbon steel or nitrided steel to ensure high wear resistance.
  • Seal: The pump can be equipped with different types of seals, including single mechanical, lip seal, component, or cartridge type according to API 682 standard.
  • Bearing: Equipped with a radial ball bearing, lubricated directly by the pumped fluid.
  • O-rings: Standard version supplied with Viton O-rings.
  • Coating: The standard painting cycle includes SA2.5 treatment followed by primer and RAL finish, with a total thickness of 160μ.

The drive can be performed via AC or DC motors, steam turbines, or Diesel engines, with direct coupling.

The pump is designed to handle a wide variety of fluids, provided the solid content is zero (0%).

  • Types of fluids: Lube and Mineral Oil, Hydraulic Oil, Diathermic Oil, Organic Esters (DFD-U) and Phosphate Esters (HFDR), Water-Glycol based fluids (Hydrofluorcarbide Water-Glycol), Light & Heavy Fuel Oil, Asphalt and Bitumen.
  • Viscosity: The standard kinematic viscosity range is between 5 and 1500 cSt. For different values, contact the manufacturer.

Standards, Connections and Installation

The PXCA Seim Pump is available in different configurations, including those compliant with

API 676 IIED and API 676 IIIED.

  • Installation: Suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Mounting: Horizontal or vertical with flange (IM3011 V1).
  • IN/OUT Connections: Standard connections are SAE 3000 psi. The discharge port is radial, while the suction port is axial.
  • Safety Valve: On request, a built-in safety valve with adjustable setting can be integrated.
