The STAUFF Hexagon Rail Nut (Type SM – Twin Series) is an essential fastening component for assembling Twin Series pipework systems. Engineered to work in close combination with Type TS mounting rails, this nut ensures a mechanical connection compliant with the dimensional standards established by DIN 3015, Part 3. The nut is designed with two thread standards to meet international technical specifications: ISO metric threads, identified by the letter M, and Unified Coarse UNC threads, identified by the letter U.

STAUFF Group Dimensional Classification

The STAUFF Hexagon Rail Nut (Type SM – Twin Series) range is divided into two structural categories according to the STAUFF Group and corresponding DIN Group. The first technical category is designed for STAUFF Group 1D, equivalent to DIN Group 1. This variant uses an M6 or 1/4-20 UNC thread. Its technical dimensions include a length (L) of 25.5 mm, a width (B) of 10.4 mm, a height (H1) of 14.2 mm, a base thickness (H2) of 5.5 mm and a collar diameter (ØD) of 12 mm. From an operational perspective, the SM-1-8/1D nut also provides backward compatibility, as it is suitable for Standard Series STAUFF Groups 1 to 8.

The second category covers STAUFF Groups 2D to 5D, corresponding to DIN Groups 2 to 5. For these sizes, the thread diameter increases to M8 or, alternatively, 5/16-18 UNC. In this configuration, while the basic length and width remain unchanged, the height dimensions decrease to 13 mm for H1 and 5 mm for H2, while diameter ØD increases to 14 mm.

Construction Materials and Treatments

The structural integrity of the component is determined by a rigorous selection of materials. The standard material, identified by code W3, is zinc/nickel-plated carbon steel, treated to protect the component against oxidation in conventional industrial environments. For environments exposed to aggressive corrosive agents, the nut is available in material grade W4, corresponding to V2A stainless steel (grades 1.4301 / 1.4305, equivalent to AISI 304 / 303). The highest level of chemical protection is provided by the W5 variant, manufactured from V4A stainless steel (grades 1.4401 / 1.4571, equivalent to AISI 316 / 316 Ti).

Compatible Mounting Rails (Type TS)

Installation requires the use of Type TS mounting rails. The supporting structure is available in models TS-11, with a height of 11 mm, TS-14, with a height of 14 mm, and TS-30, with a height of 30 mm. All models have a material thickness (S) of 2 mm, an outside width (B1) of 28 mm and an inside width (B2) of 11 mm. Order codes for 1-metre lengths include TS-11-1M-W1, TS-14-1M-W1 and TS-30-1M-W1, while 2-metre profiles are identified by codes TS-11-2M-W1, TS-14-2M-W1 and TS-30-2M-W1. They are available in uncoated carbon steel (W1), hot-dip galvanised carbon steel (W98), V2A stainless steel (W4) or V4A stainless steel (W5).
