STAUFF Rectangular Clamp Body for Sensors (Type VK – Standard Series)
The STAUFF Rectangular Clamp Body for Sensors (Type VK – Standard Series) is designed for the secure clamping of rectangular proximity switches in accordance with DIN EN 60947-5-2. As part of STAUFF Group 5, it ensures standardised external dimensions. When used with an SM nut and TS rail, it allows precise axial and horizontal position adjustment. Available in polypropylene or polyamide to meet different industrial requirements. The available product codes, covering all size and material variants, are: 540-40-PP-VK, 540-36-PP-VK, 540-40-PA-VK, 540-36-PA-VK.
STAUFF Rectangular Clamp Body for Sensors (Type VK – Standard Series)
The STAUFF Rectangular Clamp Body for Sensors (Type VK – Standard Series) represents an outstanding solution in the hydraulic sector for securing electronic instrumentation and detection sensors. The clamp body is designed in strict accordance with the Standard Series requirements pursuant to DIN 3015, Part 1. This ensures maximum reliability and standardisation in industrial clamping systems. Specifically, the external dimensions of the component correspond exactly to STAUFF Group 5. The clamp is specifically engineered to accommodate rectangular proximity switches compliant with DIN EN 60947-5-2, or instrumentation with similar characteristics, ensuring optimal mechanical retention in complex operating environments subject to vibration.
The versatility of the component is expressed through two main geometric configurations, designed to meet different proximity switch installation requirements. The standard rectangular design features a 40 mm x 40 mm square internal section, corresponding to 1.57 in x 1.57 in. For different space requirements, a variant with a 40 mm x 36 mm rectangular internal section, corresponding to 1.57 in x 1.42 in, is available. Both versions are manufactured as standard in Polypropylene, a plastic material that offers an excellent combination of mechanical strength and low weight. Where the technical application requires different structural or thermal resistance specifications, the clamp body can also be supplied in Polyamide.
The mounting system is designed to maximise operating precision and reduce set-up times on site or in the workshop. The combined use of the clamp with the SM hexagonal rail nut and the TS mounting rail provides the system with exceptional mechanical flexibility. This specific configuration allows the operator to precisely adjust the position both axially and horizontally. The calibration procedure is extremely simple: loosen the clamping bolts to slide the assembly along the rail, identify the exact position of the sensor in relation to the metal element to be detected, and then securely lock the structure in place.
Although this clamp body is the preferred choice for rectangular sensors, the STAUFF system also provides design continuity for other system geometries. Where the hydraulic system uses proximity switches, also compliant with DIN EN 60947-5-2 or similar standards, with a circular design, the technical specification requires the use of a Standard Series, STAUFF Group 4 clamp body selected according to the exact diameter required. This modular approach ensures the same clamping reliability and complete structural consistency with the rest of the installation.
