The STAUFF Smooth Clamp Body (Type H – Heavy Series) is designed and manufactured in strict compliance with DIN 3015, Part 2. This construction standard classifies the component within the Heavy Series, making it suitable for use in hydraulic and industrial systems subject to heavy loads. The key technical feature of Type H is its completely smooth inner surface and its design without tension clearance. This configuration ensures uniform clamping while minimising concentrated stresses. The clamp body is supplied in the standard configuration consisting of two clamp halves, facilitating assembly and maintenance on pipework lines.
The primary purpose of the STAUFF Smooth Clamp Body (Type H – Heavy Series) is the secure installation and reliable fastening of hoses and cables. To preserve the integrity of the lines, particularly rubber hoses exposed to pressure pulsations and vibrations, the clamp features chamfered edges. This geometric feature is essential for preventing abrasion, cuts or damage to the outer sheath of the hose or cable during normal system operation. The design is optimised to cover all outside diameters of hoses and cables commonly used in the industry, while providing excellent weathering resistance and confirming the product’s reliability even under the most extreme operating conditions.
The component is available in a range of standard polymer materials, coded to identify the specific compounds. The main variants include polypropylene (PP-H), available in the standard green colour or in black (PP-H-BK). For applications requiring different mechanical properties, black polyamide (PA-H) is available, together with black thermoplastic elastomer (SA-H) with a hardness of 87 Shore A, which is ideal for increased vibration absorption. This selection of materials ensures compatibility with different types of industrial environments.
In addition to the standard versions, the clamp body is available in special flame-retardant materials. These compounds are rigorously tested and approved in accordance with the strictest international fire-protection standards, including BS 6853, EN 45545-2 and UL 94. This option makes the clamps suitable for installation in critical sectors such as rail transport and systems with a high fire risk.
The Heavy Series is structured into four main sizes, classified according to both the STAUFF Group and the corresponding DIN Group. Specifically, STAUFF Group 3S (DIN Group 1) has a total length (L1) of 55 mm and a width of 30.5 mm. Moving up in size, Group 4S (DIN Group 2) has an L1 length of 70 mm while maintaining a width of 30.5 mm. Group 5S (DIN Group 3) extends to a length of 85 mm, while Group 6S (DIN Group 4) reaches an L1 length of 115 mm and an increased width of 45 mm. This dimensional modularity enables the accommodation of hoses with outside diameters ranging from a minimum of 6 mm in Group 3S to 70 mm in Group 6S.
