CA SERIES HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS

Description

Grices CA Series Hydraulic Cylinders are sized and designed in compliance with the international ISO 6020/1 standard. These components feature a compact construction with round end caps, specifically developed to meet the most demanding industrial actuation requirements. The cylinders are designed to operate reliably at a nominal pressure of 16 MPa (160 bar) under continuous service and can withstand a maximum pressure of 25 MPa (250 bar), corresponding to the test pressure limit. To ensure the highest quality standards, the entire production line includes rigorous inspections and hydraulic testing carried out on 100% of the cylinders manufactured.

Construction Features

The CA Series architecture relies on the use of advanced CNC technologies and selected materials of the highest quality.

  • Cylinder barrel: Manufactured from cold-drawn or hot-rolled steel tubing with a high structural wall thickness. It features an internal microfinish with a roughness of 0.4 microns or less and an H8 diameter tolerance.

  • Piston rod: Made of special steel and hard chrome-plated to effectively withstand damage and significantly extend seal life. It features a minimum surface finish of 0.2 microns and is available as a single-rod or double-rod version upon request. Two rod diameters are available for each bore size variant, from 40 to 320 mm, with customised strokes of up to 4000 mm.

  • End caps: Manufactured from steel and machined to achieve complete concentricity between the barrel, bushing and piston rod. They include large internal passages specifically designed to minimise fluid pressure losses.

  • Piston: Made of a special machined material to ensure precise concentric guidance and a wide radial contact surface. This stability minimises piston rod deflection caused by any external radial loads.

Cushioning Systems and Accessories

This series offers advanced end-of-stroke cushioning options, recommended when the cylinders operate at speeds above 0.1 m/s or when loads must be moved vertically. The front and rear cushioning systems feature adjustable progressive damping through needle valves equipped with a safety system to prevent accidental removal. Optionally, the end caps can accommodate proximity sensors for precise piston position detection. These PNP logic devices operate within a temperature range of -25 to +80 degrees Celsius and can withstand dynamic pressures of up to 350 bar. For machines using strokes longer than 1000 mm, specific internal spacers from 50 to 200 mm are recommended to maximise mechanical guidance. Air bleed valves at both ends and drain ports are also available, essential for strokes exceeding 2000 mm at high operating speeds.

Fluid and Seal Specifications

The standardised dynamic seals are housed in grooves compliant with ISO 7425 and are available in different configurations depending on speed, temperature and operating fluid:

  • Type A (Standard): Seals suitable for low pressures and maximum speeds of 0.5 m/s. They operate within a temperature range of -20 to +80 degrees Celsius and are ideal for mineral oil, air and nitrogen.

  • Type B (Nitrile and PTFE): Low-friction materials designed for maximum speeds of up to 4 m/s and temperatures between -10 and +75 degrees Celsius. Recommended for mineral oil or water-glycol.

  • Type C (Viton and PTFE): Low-friction components designed for fluids operating at high temperatures, up to 135 degrees Celsius, or for phosphate esters, while maintaining speed limits of 4 m/s
