Description

The MP Filter Series LMD 951 represents an advanced duplex solution for fluid management in low and medium pressure hydraulic circuits. This component is designed to withstand a maximum operating pressure of 1.6 MPa (16 bar) and can handle volumetric flow rates up to 1200 l/min. The key technical feature of the LMD 951 series is the presence of an integrated changeover valve. This hydraulic mechanism allows operators to isolate one section of the filter and replace the exhausted filter element without shutting down the entire system. This functionality proves to be a critical factor in all operational applications where machine downtime generates high costs or risks severely compromising workplace safety protocols.

Design Features and Materials

The filter architecture is based on durable materials, specifically designed for base-mounted installation to facilitate subsequent maintenance operations. The head and the entire protective housing are manufactured from anodized aluminum, ensuring strong structural and chemical protection, while the manifolds are welded and coated with a protective black paint finish. The internal valve assembly includes a three-way ball valve made of steel with a stainless steel ball, paired with a check valve featuring a cast iron body and a durable AISI 304 steel plate. In terms of hydraulic sealing, the filter assembly is equipped as standard with FPM (Viton) seals from the V series, ensuring reliable operation within an operating temperature range from -25°C to +110°C. Regarding pressure resistance, the system is tested at a pressure of 2.4 MPa (24 bar) and has successfully passed rigorous pulsating pressure fatigue tests for 1,000,000 cycles.

Filter Elements and Configuration

Inside the MP Filter Series LMD 951 unit, two primary filter elements of the CU950-3 series are installed. To meet different fluid cleanliness requirements, various filter media types can be selected: inorganic microfibre for maximum efficiency and filtration grades from 3 µm to 25 µm (A03, A06, A10, A16, A25), wire mesh for surface filtration suitable for larger debris (M25, M60, M90), paper media, and special inorganic microfibre filter elements specifically designed for the absorption of free water (WA025) present in hydraulic fluid. The internal fluid dynamics strictly provide flow direction from the outside to the inside of the filter element (OUT to IN flow).

Auxiliary Components and Safety Systems

To preserve system integrity in case of abnormal clogging, the device integrates a steel bypass valve with an opening pressure set at 0.35 MPa (3.5 bar), with a tolerance margin of 10%. This valve prevents excessive differential pressure drop (Delta p) across the clogged filter media. Additional safety systems include balancing valves, useful for properly equalizing the internal pressure of the housing before the manual changeover phase, and threaded drain ports for controlled fluid removal before proceeding with element maintenance. The saturation status of the filter element can be continuously monitored by technical personnel through dedicated differential clogging indicators, available in multiple construction formats: purely visual, with electrical switch, or with electronic signal transmission.

Connections and Installation Specifications

The hydraulic connection interfaces are inline type (Inlet/Outlet), positioned symmetrically on the same side of the filter assembly. The supplied flanges cover diameters up to 4″, ensuring broad compatibility with the main industrial standards of the sector (available versions include 3″ or 4″ SAE 3000 psi, with metric or UNC threads). Physical installation of the filter is designed exclusively for vertical mounting. If the filtration unit must be used in circuits operating at reduced flow rates, specifically below 100 or 150 l/min, the use of the P02 version is recommended. This specific version includes an additional internal tube designed to simplify, improve, and speed up the filling operations of the aluminum housing with the operating fluid.
