Description

Grices MXP Series Marine Hydraulic Cylinders are part of the manufacturer’s standard marine product range, offering a high-quality engineering solution for the marine sector. These actuators are designed to maximise product reliability and durability over time. High quality standards are ensured through strict inspections throughout the production cycle, the use of state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment and rigorous hydraulic testing carried out on 100% of the cylinders manufactured.

Material Selection and Corrosion Resistance

Marine environments require specific construction solutions to prevent the chemical and physical deterioration of components. For this reason, the materials used in Grices MXP Series Marine Hydraulic Cylinders have been carefully selected to ensure complete resistance to corrosion. Critical components such as the tube (part 2), ground piston rod (part 4) and ground pin (part 5) are manufactured entirely from AISI 316 stainless steel. To balance structural performance, the rear end cap (part 1) and front end cap (part 3) are made of chrome-plated OT58 brass.

Clean Design and Integrated Hydraulic Supply System

One of the main innovations of this series is its hydraulic flow management system. The cylinders feature a hydraulic supply system integrated directly into the rear pin. This technical architecture completely eliminates conventional external hydraulic pipes, making the application particularly suitable for marine installations requiring clean lines and a compact, streamlined design. The system also includes dedicated installation options, such as STP mounting brackets specifically designed to securely anchor the cylinder to the vessel’s transom.

Fluid Dynamics, Pressure Ratings and Sealing System

In terms of hydraulic performance, the cylinders are designed to operate safely at a nominal pressure of 12 MPa under continuous operating conditions. The structure can easily withstand operating peaks of up to a maximum pressure of 16 MPa. The internal construction includes bore sizes ranging from 40 to 50 mm, combined with customisable operating strokes of up to 1000 mm. Volumetric efficiency is maintained through the use of a premium sealing system. The seals, manufactured from elastomer combined with nitrile, provide excellent sealing performance. Supplied exclusively by leading international manufacturers, these seals ensure not only high operating performance but also quick and easy worldwide availability for routine and extraordinary maintenance operations.

Product Coding and Dimensional Variants

For correct component identification and ordering, the manufacturer has defined a precise coding system: the model code must be followed by the stroke length expressed in millimetres. An example of the standard coding format is “MXP 40/500”, identifying the version with a 40 mm bore and a 500 mm operating stroke. The range is divided into two main models:

  • MXP 40 model: Features a 40 mm bore (AL), 1/8″ hydraulic ports (EL), an 87 mm TC dimension and a total length (TL) of 117 mm.

  • MXP 50 model: Features a 50 mm bore (AL), 1/8″ hydraulic ports (EL), a 98 mm TC dimension and a total length (TL) of 128 mm. Both versions share a 28 mm piston rod diameter (MM), an M20x1.5 piston rod thread (KK) and a 12 mm WH dimension.
