Construction Features and Materials

Oleo Tecnica 90° Butt-Weld Flanges are components designed to ensure structural integrity and maximum fluid sealing performance in high-pressure hydraulic circuits. The component body is machined entirely from bar stock, a manufacturing process that ensures superior material density and mechanical strength. The material specifically used to manufacture these components is S355 steel, a high-performance alloy capable of withstanding demanding loads. The bevel angle for the welded connection is precisely calibrated at 45 degrees, ensuring optimum weld penetration.

Designations and Ordering Configuration

To simplify procurement operations, LTH Oleotecnica provides three distinct ordering designations according to the required level of completeness. The base code, identified by the prefix “AFS…90ST”, refers to the flange only. The second option (“AFS…90STM”) identifies a complete assembly kit including the flange, corresponding metric screws, spring washers and O-ring. The third configuration (“AFS…90STU”) includes the same accessories but uses UNC inch-thread screws. It is essential to specify that the UNC screw set is available exclusively in carbon steel and that, for versions machined from bar stock, fastening hardware may not be available.

Series 3000 and Series 6000 Technical Specifications

The range is divided into two dimensional and pressure series. Series 3000 is designed to operate with maximum recommended working pressures ranging from 172 Kg/cm (for the largest 2″1/2 sizes) up to 345 Kg/cm (for 3/4″ and 1″ flanges). Weights in this class range from 0.65 Kg up to a maximum of 5.7 Kg. Series 6000, developed for very high-pressure circuits, increases performance by providing operating pressure ratings from 320 Kg/cm (for the 1″1/2 size) up to 414 Kg/cm (for the 3/4″ size). The fastening system uses metric bolts from M10 to M16, combined with specific O-rings (e.g. type 3100, 4100, 4187, up to 4275) to seal the connection.

Working Pressure and System Sizing

An essential technical parameter for safety concerns pressure classification. The maximum recommended working pressure values (from 172 to 414 Kg/cm) provided in the documentation are based exclusively on the sealing capabilities of the flange. However, during system design it is necessary to consider that the actual maximum working pressure of the complete system is determined by the structural wall thickness and steel quality of the pipe used for the connection.
