Description
Oleo Tecnica Flat Socket-Weld Flanges, belonging to Series 3000, are essential components for connections in hydraulic systems and for fluid contamination control. Designed to ensure maximum structural stability, these flanges support a maximum recommended working pressure of 40 Kg/cm². The production range covers a wide range of nominal sizes, starting from the most compact 1/2″ size up to 5″ components, allowing precise adaptation to different system configurations. The main dimensional parameters (identified in the technical drawing as A, B, C, D, E, F) increase proportionally with flange size, ensuring that mechanical strength requirements are maintained. Component weights range from a minimum of 0.12 kg for the 1/2″ model (code AFC080S) up to 3.00 kg for the 5″ model (code AFC118S).
Materials and Construction Features
To meet different environmental and operating requirements, these flat socket-weld flanges are available in two different material types. The first option is S355 carbon steel, ideal for standard high-strength hydraulic applications. The second option is AISI 316L stainless steel, designed for operating environments requiring high corrosion resistance. The choice of material directly affects the ordering designation: carbon steel components use the base prefix “AFC”, while AISI 316L stainless steel versions are identified by the prefix “AFCX”.
Component Details and Fastening Systems
Flange installation requires a precise sealing and fastening system. Each flange size is paired with a specific O-Ring to ensure leak-tight performance: from O-Ring model 4075 for the 1/2″ flange up to model 4537 for the 5″ flange. For mechanical fastening, the flanges are compatible with two thread standards. Metric screws can be used (ranging from M8x25 up to M16x55 depending on size) or UNC threaded screws (from 5/16″x1″1/4 up to 5/8″x2″1/4). An important technical specification to consider during configuration is that the UNC screw set is available exclusively for flanges manufactured in carbon steel. In addition, for the stainless steel version (AISI 316L), a dimensional variant of the metric screw is specified, changing to the M10x35 standard.
Ordering Designation and Variants
The product coding system is structured to define the required configuration precisely. If only the individual flange is required, the suffix “…S” is used (e.g. AFC…S for S355, AFCX…S for AISI 316L). If the application requires a complete assembly kit, two variants are available: the suffix “…SM” identifies the flange supplied complete with metric screws, spring washers and O-ring. The suffix “…SU” identifies the flange supplied complete with UNC screws, spring washers and O-ring (subject to the material limitation mentioned above).
